once he died, the debt was passed along to candy, and she's now trying to pay it off by doing romeo's bidding.
candy started as one of romeo's girls, but when he saw her kill a man for trying to take advantage of her, he decided he could use her for better things.
she's been acting as an assassin ever since, working her way up into a household name. she's often underestimated because of her height and like for girly things.
her body count is into the high 60s, and she's never missed a mark.
despite her occupation, candy remains optimistic and bubbly in personality, trying to keep her kindness when she's shown cruelness in every other aspect of her life.

unlike so many others who have come before and tried to charm the helmet off of him, candy accepts his terms. she respects it. she backs off. to other patrons of this cantina (and many other travelers around the galaxy), they might see this as a challenge. they might lunge forward, try to drag the beskar from his head. they'd die, of course, in their foolish attempt, but they'd surely try. candy, unlike them, is smart. she's kind. she continues to drink; she's probably under some sort of professional obligation to offer one out to her table guest, not wanting to be rude and drink alone. that's fair. at least when din tells her he can't, she doesn't insist. she just... keeps drinking.
"that's nice." his tone will give off distance, but @candykline, at this point, will know better. she sees his helmet tilting. she knows he's smiling. "i heard about your latest job on onderon." yes, he knows it's her doing. she, like him, has quite the reputation and calling card in her bounty and assassin work. when din hears whispers of a particularly delicate job, it's easy to infer who carried it out. armored arms on the table now, the mandalorian tilts his head back a bit, gloved palms flat on the table's surface. he's monitoring movement behind them, ensuring there's not some nasty plan or bad actor headed their way or planning an attack. "that was good work." he's able to talk a little more now, but din still keeps his senses trained on unusual movement near the back of the cantina. either someone is losing a card game back there, or there's interest in his and candy's table. he can't tell. "how long did it take you?" distractions. din steadies his breathing and turns his eyes to the woman sitting across from him. he wonders if she, too, has picked up on the disturbance nearby... and knowing candy, she's already two steps ahead of him.
game recognizes game. there were plenty of bounty hunters in this galaxy, plenty of assassins trying to make a buck, but candy cared more about style and grace than money. though true she needed the latter to eventually escape from her contractor, leaving her mark on the universe appealed to candice more. she's aware that she doesn't look threatening, but that's something she uses to her advantage. her sweetness never gets in the way of her true intentions, and she has never missed a mark. it was nice to be recognized for that. there's no hiding the blush that spreads across porcelain cheeks, the woman smiling brightly at the simple compliment din had given her. 'i'm flattered! i was on planet for less than a month. though, i must admit, it was one of my easier targets. unfortunately, he just couldn't run that fast,' chuckle escapes the woman, eyes crinkling a bit at the corners as she glances across the mandalorian's mask 'still, it's high praise. coming from you,'
she notices his minute distraction, din's helmet tilting a fraction toward the growing commotion behind them. on the way into the cantina, candy had clocked several men playing cards at a table, downing their drinks, losing their money to each other and growing angry because of it. she noticed the way they watched her as she walked in, the way they quieted and nudged one another. she also knew why they were there, why they were watching her, and why they were beginning to grow in volume, seeing that she had approached din's table. candy remains calm, despite that. she continues to smile at the man sitting across from her, though now she leans in a bit, gloved hands intertwining on the table. 'i suppose i should be honest with you. this isn't just a friendly visit,' never does her enthusiastic demeanor falter, not even as the men at the card table stand from their seats. 'there are men in this bar that mean to kill me. i plan to kill them first, of course, but i could use some help,' candy glances once more at din before she adorns the hood of her cloak, reaching nonchalantly for her blaster. 'what do you say? consider it a favor,'

there is something to be said about the bravery of those who stand alone, who combat assumptions, who push back against norms and act on their own merit and own desire when so much is stacked against them. there is a constant air of negativity and death drenching most corners of the galaxy (at least, as far as din has seen), so to see someone so anti-that, so unbelievably shiny in a haven of darkness... it's almost admirable. it shocks din a bit. though candy kline sits, poised in a sullied spot, the dirt and grime that cling to the cantina walls older than both of their ages combined, she is adamant. she is bright. she sticks out like din does, but not in the frightening silent killer sort of way — in the gentle but deadly sort of way. she's unaffected by the rabble around them. she doesn't look. she barely bats an eye. and now... she speaks.
big and scary? anyone else would laugh at such an accusation (and maybe he does, albeit secretly, helmet slightly tilting to the right). instead, he's quiet. he keeps listening. i'm sure there's more to you than that, candy goes on, her voice crowded with assurance. then, a very kind... would you like a drink?
"no." no what? no to which question? no clarification given. din points to his helmet with a gloved finger. "i don't take this off." that's the answer to the drink question. he won't. he can't. when din sets his arm back down on the table, he's silent again, watching @candykline, curious. his helmet's still tilted in her direction as he waits for more sentences to appear, amused by them in secret.
oh, she likes him. candy couldn't help it. despite having said so few words, the way he tilts his helmet slightly towards her allows candice to imagine the expression that may be hiding underneath. maybe a light smirk, a glimmer of amusement in his eyes. that's what she likes to think, anyway. there was no harm in imagining what the mandalorian looked like beneath the metal and glass of his headwear. she understands that he's unable to take it off ( candy has done some research on her fellow bounty hunters, and she had admiration for the one sitting across from here ), and so she isn't surprised when he must decline her offer of a drink. unoffended, candy lifts the glass she had previously wrapped her hands around and salutes din in a cheers. 'worth a shot. hopefully you don't mind if i imbibe while i'm at your table,' she downs whatever's left without so much as a flinch before she settles into her seat, smile prominent on her features as she continues to examine the mandalorian.
'we rarely run into each other, but i quite enjoy it when we do. you may be one of the only men in the galaxy that understands how far a few words can go,' teeth flash into a cheeky grin, the woman sprawling an arm over the chair next to her, clearly comfortable in the cantina, despite its flaws and rough patrons. candice's goal upon approaching din was to perhaps garner why he was here, or who he might be looking for, but more than that - she really just wanted to understand him better. how many people could say they knew anything about the mandalorian? all she ever hears are whispers and, perhaps, over exaggerated stories, though candy was also sure of his achievements, knowing that some of the rumors may well be true. she pauses for a moment, head tilting the same way his had, before she speaks again. 'i feel like every time we do meet, i get to know you just a little better. not much, but some. isn't that nice?'
this isn't the first time the authorities have gone looking for anyone who may have intel on romeo russo. he was, after all, a most wanted criminal, a man with more blood on his hands than was truly conceivable. normally, candy was quick enough not to be found, never spending too much time in one place, taking out her targets and moving onto the next man that was unfortunate enough to be on romeo's bad side. not this time. the stunning red head finds candy sitting at a table outside of a small cafe, sipping at her espresso, eyes covered with large shades and a chiffon scarf tied around her head. glancing upward at the other, candy gives a smile, understanding that she needed to be cautious if she was going to walk away from this encounter without raising too much suspicion. 'hope peters? yup, that'd be me,' she flashes ( what she can only assume is ) the detective a bright grin, one hand flourishing toward the seat across from her. 'would you like to have a seat? i've just ordered a scone. this place is famous for them,' @phenomens.

candy wouldn't say it was incredibly rare to come across another assassin while taking on your own target. after all, everyone has to eat, and to eat, what must a person have? money. that's what brought others into this career, the need to have food, shelter, security ( if one could call it that ). ultimately, it's the need for survival. kill or be killed, and all that. candice like to be more hopeful - she liked to think that there was more to just killing to live - but so far, she's been proven incorrect. the event that carries on around her holds, not only candice kline, romeo's favorite gun for hire, but another assassin - frankie davenport. candy had been tipped off to the knowledge that they would be here, but that didn't mean candy would have any luck finding them. known as a master of disguise, candice could glance around the room, sipping at her champagne, and possibly never lay eyes on frankie. candy had always been impressed by that knowledge. setting gaze on her target, candy saddles up to the first person she can find, looking rather friendly, though she only speaks to keep up appearances. 'quite the soiree, isn't it?' she chirps with a grin. 'i love parties. all that celebrating... always so cheerful, don't you think?' @bloodykneestm.
it's an understood rule of the sordid cantina — don't speak to the masked mandalorian sitting alone near the back. don't approach his table. don't come crawling into his intimidating presence and deal with the agonizing silence of his silent stare. you're not likely to get a response, and you're even less likely to get any movement, any tilt of the head. when din is seated there, elbows on the table, body rigid, weapon at his hip, there's no use approaching. it's pointless. useless. futile.
however, candy kline is far from pointless, and her skills with a weapon are certainly not futile. she's bubbly, buoyant, and brilliant like a solid, steady light in the center of a room of darkness. seated across from the mandalorian without a single care for the understood rules of the cantina, candice speaks up and often, prying through the shadows to dig deep into din's unwavering distance. if there are inferred rules in this bar, she disregards them. she chooses her own path, and for that reason alone... din secretly likes her.
can i ask you something? it's such an innocent start, even though candy kline is also far from innocent (sometimes her shots with a blaster put din's aim to shame). "what?" din hasn't moved. his gloved hands still lay across the table, one atop the other. his visor doesn't even tilt in her direction. "sure." other bar patrons move around them, weaving in and out of chairs and around booths on the way to get their drinks, but din pays no attention. still immovable — "ask away."
candice kline fears very little in this galaxy ( the man who holds her contract perhaps being at the top of her short list ). what she has never been afraid of was breaking rules, or being under the watchful gaze of those around her. even as eyes snap towards the woman who practically bounces across the bar to its back side, she doesn't flinch. she doesn't pay them any mind. the only person candy has any interest in is the mandalorian, sitting by himself - much as he always is - in the shady corner of the cantina. no one else would dream of approaching. no one else would dare. but candy dares. and she does so with her brightest smile.
unlike the other bounty hunters, candice finds herself trying to enjoy what little this life has to offer. it was not a luxurious job, but it paid well enough, and as a hopeful person, she thought that she may eventually escape from the confines of her contractor's grasps, and find freedom like she's never had, before. until then, she didn't see any use in being dour. unlike some. sitting across from din, she still hasn't figured the man out, and she's sure he'd like to keep it that way. unfortunately for him, candy had every intention of trying her best to understand exactly what made him tick.
'do you ever get tired of acting so big and scary all the time?' candy leans in just a bit, arms rested on the table between them, fingers interlocking as they wrap around her drink. she can't see beyond his helmet, but she tries to look where his eyes might be, her own sparkling in an almost constant amusement. 'we get it, you are very frightening - but i'm sure there's more to you than that,' candy leans her hand onto the hilt of her palm. 'would you like a drink?'
