Google doodles have been surprising and oftentimes delighting users for almost 20 years, but the tech giant wants them to do more than just make us smile. Google hopes they help teach us, too.
It's so awesome to see the Google Doodles getting such major publicity! I help to write the "Scribbles," which are the small blurbs that accompany the unique Google logo for a particular milestone (whether it's an influential person's birthday, a holiday, or historical event). They are rather tricky to write, since you have to condense a lot of factually correct information into a few sentences, and it goes through several rounds of approval. It's definitely a challenge that makes me anxious every time the deadline looms, but a really cool opportunity to have my writing seen on a massive scale (though I'm not credited :) )
