Older and Wiser

Kade's voice rings out through their parents' California home as Cameron rummages through the fridge in the kitchen. He looks back at his younger brother with a quirked brow. "Thought you grew out of that phase a decade ago?" Kade had always thought they were on the brink of collapse when he was younger, the little kid thought he knew everything and read too many psychology books in Cameron's opinion. Too many books entirely actually. They put too many thoughts in the kid's head. Didn't help that tabloids liked to point out his parents were often times not together in public.

"No they're really getting a divorce, Cam. For one thing, Mum's stuff is gone from their room and--." Kade had peaked his head into the room to see if their parents had come back yet from their weekend vacation. He didn't remember what place it was this time, but it wasn't unusual for their Dad to travel to their Mum's set location and whisk her off for the weekend.

"They're on a trip, Kade. They're probably just not back yet." He pulled out all the makings of a ridiculously enjoyable sandwich from the fridge. And that’s just was he was going to do. Enjoy a sandwich, ridiculously.

"A trip that requires her to take her entire closet? But that's not the point--"

"I don't fucking know, Kade. Maybe she donated a bunch of shit to a charity again. Maybe she shipped some of it to the Scotland house. Who fucking knows? Not me. I'm just here in the kitchen, making a sandwich because someone didn’t want to stop for food because we were supposed to be here at exactly 3pm." Kade annoyed the shit out of him most days and those few other days it was more like a persistent fly buzzing around his head.

"But Cam--" Kade sighed as he began and was immediately cut off with a "They're fine."

"Camer--" Interrupted again. "No." This back and forth went on and on with as many variations of "No" as Cam could manage until Kade snapped, slamming his hand down onto the counter, "Would you just fuckin' listen to me, ya fuckwit?! Jesus fucking Christ you're the biggest idgit of the bunch and yet ya think you know everything."

Cameron would have giving some sort of retort about Kade having to cool it with the 'roids, but at this moment the prized sandwich in his mouth is much more important to him. It, however, doesn't stop him from shooting one nasty glare and a cocked eyebrow to give the general feel of the moment.

"Da' left his phone on his suitcase and he's out back which you would've noticed had you not been stuffing your enormous mouth the moment we got into the house." Kade holds the phone out which displays a missed call from some hot shot LA divorce attorney they always see billboards for around the city.

Cameron shrugs, more of a straight from the horses mouth type rather than believing in his brother's crazy conspiracy theories, speaking between chewing. "Still doesn't mean anything."
