it’s so easy to look at your fic stats and think “only 20 people read this” or “why is this number so small”
but like… imagine standing up and reading your story out loud to a room
20 people? that’s a whole classroom. that’s actual human beings sitting there, listening to your words, choosing to spend their time with something you made.
50 people? that’s like a lecture hall.
even 5 people, that’s a small group gathered just to hear you.
we get so used to numbers on a screen that we forget they are people. real ones. with lives and limited time and a million other things they could be doing, and they still picked your story.
it’s okay if the numbers matter to you sometimes. we’re human. it can sting.
but don’t let the scale of the internet trick you into thinking “small” means “no one.” because it never does.
