the world of difference between “you must guard blue guy with your life” versus “always watch over blue guy and purple girl”

the boat the brothers are tied up on reaches blue-clan leader's and purple girl's returning boat, and upon learning what's happening back at home, blue-clan leader immediately ties purple girl up too and sends them to grandma.

in a turn of events, it’s blue guy that’s being wild and loud while dark guy is quietly somber. unfortunately it’s because their home is about to be destroyed and not because of, like, silly drunken escapades.

blue guy gets a loving embrace goodbye. for a half-second, it was almost as if sass mom was about to give dark guy one as well, only to shake him and blame him for the whole situation instead

oh, sass mom is probably about to die, given that she just gave blue guy her lightning-whip-thing.

if sass mom were less awful, i'd say that her only checking on blue guy's injuries were a sign of how, having caused dark guy's injuries herself, she knows that dark guy wasn't injured in a serious manner. however, sass mom isn't less awful, we already know it's going to take dark guy at least a month to get over the lashing, and sass mom doesn't even look at dark guy except to scold him some more as if it's his fault that the red clan is full of murderers

blue guy, i know you were trying to help your mom, but i’m pretty sure you just fucked your entire clan by letting kite lady set off that signal-firework

silent guy is so polite in his 'now i'm going to do a murder' to sass mom

damn, i didn't think that sass mom and silent guy would know each other

i was hoping that they would send kite lady off (mostly) untouched, so that sass mom could be all 'look, i don't know what hole her guards fell in, perhaps the red clan should look after its own before coming after others' when another confrontation came to pass, but i guess silent man coming to kite lady's potential rescue is an option.

sass mom merely gives her guards a significant look before the two nod and go to... murder? long-term knock out? kite lady's guards. and because it was only a look, there's plausible deniability that the guards were just acting on their own

meanwhile blue guy and dark guy are like 'nope, not moving, this is already terrifying enough without drawing sass mom's attention with movement'

'i've never even heard of your clan, how dare you try to out-mean me?' sass mom says as she literally steps on kite lady's head
