Summary:

After decades together, and the girls are grown and long gone, an elderly Qifrey comforts Olruggio on his deathbed. He knows once Olruggio is gone, he will permanently turn into a Silverwood Tree, and he is at peace with that fate, the ending they had chosen together. Before Olruggio goes, Qifrey remembers the night that forever changed their relationship, when Olruggio cursed them to be forever tethered.
