Portfolio Evaluation
For my portfolio I had went through a process of looking through all of my images from the start of the college year and to the end of the college year. Whilst doing this I had made up a folder and when I had seen a strong image I had put them into a folder. At the end of that I had went through the folder and rate the images, from roughly 20 images I had narrowed it down to 10 and then narrowed them down to 5. After doing this I had went through some of my personal work I had done that was either for my own purpose or for another college which the Make-Up/Hairdressing Department had asked me to photograph their students work in the New Lanarkshire College. Once I had my final 10 images I had put them into Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, in Photoshop I had resized my images to for A3 and also changes the ppi of the images. I had then put my images into Lightroom to adjust the color and the contrast, for most of my images i barely touched them and i thought that it was a god idea to do so as i believe that the images looked much better as the original and also that the colours within the images were already quite vibrant that they did not needed adjusted that much. The layout of my presentation was very effective as they were not all landscape nor portrait, there was a few images of the both layouts, i think that by doing this it has made the portfolio very interesting as I believe that if you were to do it all either portrait or landscape it would be a bit boring and dull. I think that by changed it up on most pages has made such a better portfolio as it also shows that you can photography both ways and just dont photograph the one way, which would be a bad habit to just constantly do the same way for a photograph. My choice of printing process was very effective as it was very easy to do and fast, I had uploaded my images onto Loxley's Website and then just clicked on what size that i wanted. I think that there very fast process was really helpful, also their staff was really helpful with answering my questions that I had regarding the process of getting the images ordered to print and then also the delivery. The paper type that Loxleys use was very strong and worked very well with the colours of my images, as my images were very print and vibrant I did not want any of the colour to be extracted from the photo whilst getting printed. I was very extremely pleased with the prints from Loxleys and i would gladly go back and get more print from them. If I were to improve any of these steps then for the retouching i probably would experiment a little with the colours and also the contrast a little more to see what it would create the image to be. I also think that for the layout i would try have a pattern throughout the portfolio to create a more attention seeking portfolio and to create it to be more eye drawn. I think that if i were to change the printing process i would do more research on more printing processors to see which type of paper it is that is used and try to get an example of all the paper and also what it does to the colour within the images I think that by doing this I would have had a bigger range to pick from to see which paper would have done the correct job for the colours in my images.
