A horror in my own mind; A masquerade beyond redemption.

You have been staring at the sun like he’s someone who brightens up your day, it hurts but you still look at it. Little did you know the moon has been lighting your dark nights and never have you noticed him.

Why am I so unhappy? Why is sadness the sole emotion that festers within me?

The first guy that ever broke my heart is my Father. I love him very much but his selfishness has shattered me, killed my mom’s heart and cause my brother to feel insecure. So tell me, do you really think I can’t survive a heartbreak caused by a mere guy when my heart was never whole ever since my Father broke it? But surviving means you still have to go through the pain.

When the other person is hurting, confused, troubled, anxious, alienated, terrified; or when he or she is doubtful of self-worth, uncertain as to identity, then understanding is called for. The gentle and sensitive companionship of an empathic stance… provides illumination and healing. In such situations deep understanding is, I believe, the most precious gift one can give to another.

When people ask me ‘What’s wrong?’, I want to say ‘I’m tired in a way that no amount of sleep can fix because today is just as much of a struggle as yesterday was and I know tomorrow will be exactly the same… I’m tired of being everybody’s rock but whenever I’m stuck in a hard place nobody’s ever there to look out for me… But most of all I’m tired of putting a smile on my sadness and calling it ‘fine’ when really, I don’t even remember what ‘fine’ feels like anymore'… But for some reason, the only part of that I ever seem to say aloud is… 'I’m tired…’

Never a monster, just a man backed into a corner.

Spend your free time the way you like, not the way you think you’re supposed to. Stay home on New Year’s Eve if that’s what makes you happy. Skip the committee meeting. Cross the street to avoid making aimless chitchat with random acquaintances. Read. Cook. Run. Write a story.

Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.
