MAAM has a new exhibition opening this month! May Stevens: My Mothers features the work of painter, poet, feminist, and activist May Stevens (‘46) who believed that politics and artmaking were intertwined.

MAAM is open Thursday – Sunday and is always free!

Celebrate the final days of Joana Vasconcelos' monumental installation Valkyrie Mumbet this Saturday at the MassArt Museum (MAAM). Groove to live jazz with musicians from Berklee College of Music's Institute for Jazz and Gender Justice and get creative with hands-on artmaking throughout the museum.

Boston welcomed a new monumental public artwork this month — The Embrace — honoring the life, legacy, and love of Corretta Scott King and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The piece, designed by Hank Willis Thomas, was installed in the Boston Commons and unveiled earlier this month. The piece sits at the center of the 1965 Freedom Plaza which has inscribed in it the names of 65 local civil rights leaders, some of whom CACP is honored to call our friends and partners. In conjunction with the opening of this public work, For Freedoms curated an exhibition entitled Let Love Quiet Fear which features the work of ten esteemed artists including CACP’s own, Ekua Holmes. The exhibition is up now until Feb. 12 at the Praise Shadows Gallery in Brookline.

Haley House, in collaboration with MassArt's CACP, Clay for Change, and Ceramics area present the 15th annual Souper Bowl! This fundraiser benefits Haley House's programs which include a soup kitchen, housing, education and training, and social enterprise. 

Attendees select a handcrafted ceramic bowl made at MassArt, and sample a variety of delicious soups produced with locally sourced ingredients. Tickets are $50 and all proceeds go to Haley House. For tickets and more info visit: HERE

Over the holidays sparc! the ArtMobile distributed 100 Art2go bags full of watercolor sets, blank cards, stickers and more at the Roxbury YMCA!

Community partner, Project R.I.G.H.T. and the Roxbury YMCA After School program, worked together to host close to 100 kids for the Christmas vacation week. The bags were full of creative goodies to help children and families create their own special New Year’s Day and Holiday Cards!

Artist, educator, and dear collaborator and friend of CACP, Chanel Thervil, produced three limited edition sweatshirts and is donating 20% of the proceeds to CACP! We are so honored and grateful to Chanel for her generosity and we love these beautiful sweatshirts with her mixed media portraits printed on the front.
