Eudaimonia is an Ancient Greek word that means human flourishing, living well, and achieving the highest good. As a child I was surrounded by the idea of romantic love, it was in everything, from books to tv shows, it was even written in the stars. With constellations like Perseus and Andromeda, Cygnus, Vega and Altair, and Pisces. All have some meaning of love, at least that’s how we perceive them, like The Heart Nebula that’s used as a modern symbol of cosmic romance.

So of course I believed that the only way to be fulfilled in life and be complete is to find someone that would follow me into the grave. And that’s harder than I first thought, when I was young I thought the love of my life would magically appear one day and sweep me off my feet… and then I grew up and realized we are in the worst generation for romance. People don’t go out a lot, since the pandemic we have all become hermits that only go out when necessary, not by want. Which makes finding a lover even more difficult, instead people have begun to rely on dating apps… which are terrible.

I could give a thousand reasons as to why they suck, but if you’ve ever used one then you already know half of them. They’re so draining, honestly every aspect of love is draining. I’ve always been told you’re supposed to put a lot of work into love, that you need to build a relationship and not give up at small roadblocks… I’ve given up on finding romantic love, because I thought it was just never for me. And I wasn’t entirely wrong, though I still hope to find “true love” I’ve learned to become content with other kinds of love, romantic love isn’t the only kind of love that can give me fulfillment, I have friends and family, they mean the world to me.
