“Let’s go to the WatchTower,” She mumbled with a slight smile. This was the closest thing to free health care she was getting any time soon; she might as well take advantage.

12 Weeks...

Y/N had stopped J’onn as soon as he entered their front door. She led him straight to the bedroom and shut the door behind her. She had a sweet smile on her face, but J’onn knew to look at her eyes for the real story.

“Surely, this is not what the doctor meant when she said activity is good for the baby,” J’onn said as Y/N pushed him to the bed for the fifth time today. Her baby bump was slightly present underneath one of his old sweaters. It hung at the top of her thighs and left her bare legs exposed. She had taken to any of his clothing items while pregnant. J’onn wouldn’t tell her, but he suspected that this may be a Martian thing.

“All activity is good activity,” Y/N mumbled as she pressed her lips into his. He let out a small chuckle before wrapping his arms around her, but remaining mindful of the baby bump.

25 Weeks...

“I’m hungry,” Y/N whispered in the dead of night.

“What does the baby crave?”J’onn asked, rolling out of his sleep. This had been a consistent thing for a week now. Around 3 AM, Y/N would wake up with a new food she desired. Last night had been pickles and peanut butter, but the night before had been chips that had to be delivered via Green Lantern.

“Fish filet sandwich, double cheeseburger with extra pickles, and an Oreo churro,” J’onn blinked at his wife slowly. He needed to choose his words carefully. The last time he commented on her cravings, he slept on the couch with the cat. It was a very rough shift on the Watch Tower the next day.

“I will be back soon, my heart,” He pressed a kiss and slipped out of their shared bed. Y/N simply just hummed in content.

36 Weeks..

“J’onn!” Y/N whined from the living room. She was fully dressed except for her shoes. She could not bend down to put her shoes on. It was the same in the summer, but then she could wear cute flats or sandals; now it was cold and icy outside. The weather called for real shoes, a pregnant woman’s worst enemy.

 “You did this to me,” She reminded him as she sat on the couch. She heard the couch groan from beneath her. J’onn simply nodded. He distinctly remembered her begging for his touch around the time of the child’s conception, but now was not a good time to bring this up. He simply kneeled next to her, pressed a kiss to both of her swollen ankles, and slipped her socks and shoes on. Sometimes silence really is the answer.

40 Weeks & Three Days...

“J’onn, my husband, whom I love with all my heart,” Y/N started as she lay in the medical center of the WatchTower. She was hooked up to all kinds of wires to make sure that everything was fine with her and the baby.

“Yes, my love,” J’onn spoke from her bedside. She had been squeezing his hand during the contractions.

“If you ever get me pregnant again, I will wreak havoc.”

“I know, but you’re doing such a good job. If it makes you feel better, Martian births are notoriously quick.” J’onn just made that up, but it wasn’t like there was any way to contradict him.

“It’s been four hours,” She whispered. She wasn’t sure how much more of this she could take. She was exhausted, and this baby was taking forever.

“I love you.” It was a last-ditch effort.
