so first of all leo has actively tried to kill us and i think he will continue to do so just to have fun. just to see. he's experimenting let him be insane

alan is someone that sometimes i think he could be a romance option and other times i think not i genuinely could not decide so he got his own category. i think ultimately he'll end up just friends with mc but every once in a while there's a lil somethin somethin. though after ep 18 everyone was in love with him so he'll probably be too busy fending off suitors here soon lmao.

this category had a few more people in it for a while but i updated it after episode 17 so here's where we're at now

THE FRIENDZONE

alright straight up: i think romeo, yuri, tohma, and luca are gay. they like mc but they're not interested in her. all of these dudes have more ties into the plot with other characters than they do specific romance leads with mc (other than the ocassional lean into otome tropes.)

disclaimer for this whole post i should have said at the beginning: this game isnt technically an otome but it acts like it is. it still acts like we have options and it could be anyone but i think there's some they intend to be the actual romance lines, hence the endgame boys. but who knows? maybe everyone will be an option. this game does wack things all the time i just work here

but like, romeo has his whole thing with taiga and kaito, yuri has his ex jin and jiro, tohma has his sneaky link alan and his whole obsession with jin, and lucas just a lil fruit. i also think he's into kaito. they're not endgame options imo (disclaimer that im not saying theyre all gay blah blah this post is a joke dont @ me)

ritsu gives me SUCH ace vibes first of all. second off he's standing on business 24/7 he's here for one thing and one thing only and that's to take on clients. he's a hustler he's about that bag he aint got time for romance. i support him

ed is sooooooo flirty with mc but honestly it has never given me the impression that it's actually because he's into her. he just wants something from her. he wants to turn her / potentially use her. also the same with rui! he wants something from him! he's got ulterior motives and if flirting with mc will get him there then by golly he'll do it!! that being said if there was going to be an antagonistic love interest it would be him. he's in the category in invisible ink

towa also gives the vibe of flirting without actually being into mc. i think it's more about ownership and wanting things than it actually is about being in love with her. that being said the dude does love love so i wouldn't be surprised if it swings the other way in game. idk these are just vibe checks i'm performing i could be wrong but i think it's more about like, the abstract of love instead of him actually being in love with her. does that make sense? probs not. neither does he oh well

and then the other guys here (sho haru zenji subaru lyca ren jiro kaito) all just give me bestie vibes lol. jiro is someone who almost jumped categories after ep 17 and sho has jumped back and forth so many times that honestly he should probably be in that category with alan. but still something about him just really feels like he's a bestie. he's a good dude, a ride or die.......damn no he should be in that category with alan. i made this before ep 18 was out my bad

kaito is obsessed with us and i'll give him that but i don't think mc likes him like that. he's like a lil brother i think. we love kaito

subaru could honestly maybe be in the gay section of this too given his flirting with sho but eh whatever hes down here with his buddy lyca

anyways that's my thoughts on them. now for the real reason i made this post

THE ENDGAME BOYS

I don't think any of these should be a surprise really. jin and taiga are the baby boys of the game (they're on the website and the main ones advertised (other than alan lmao)) and they're everywhere. intrinsically tied to the plot. haku is also a major player in the game. rui is...

rui is one that i didn't expect to be in the main category but ep 17 changed my mind. like up until that episode he was solidly in the friend category as the one who flirted but was never an actual option, and THEN!! and then!!! ep 17 he kept having those bittersweet "..." shots and i was like rui hello???? and honestly i think he really might actually be down bad for mc now and not in a kaito way

however. i am also really worried that he's going to die now lmao. idk if that's something this game would actually pull or if i'm just still heartbroken from jjk but i'm worried they're setting rui up for a confession only to have him die. but there's zero supporting evidence for that i'm just anxious lmao

haku is 100% the traitor (to me at least) and it's super easy to see him being involved with mc just to betray her and then do the right thing at the end (anyone see kpop demon hunters? same vibes) it'll be beautiful it'll be heartbreaking it'll leave me a mess on the floor i can't wait

taiga is the other side of jin's narrative to me. he's someone who also pulled back and started being reclusive after last year but he's brash and he takes what he wants and he's the dangerous one. however! i did almost have him in the category with alan just because of how he is with romeo. but idk just because of how closely he's tied into the plot he seems like another frontrunner for actual endgame options. i think with him it's going to be right up until the end and then it's not going to be him, but they're gonna drag that one out.

i think jin is endgame for mc ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ something about the way he was framed at the beginning and his growth since then really made me think oh this is the dude they want for her. he starts off brash and dismissive but even by the end of the first episode he swoops in to save her and shows a vested interested in keeping her safe. he dances with her in front of everyone like he's staking a claim and showing the school they're accepting her here. from there it just grows in this really understated quiet way where we get to ep 17 and he tells her simply "you're mine. that's all there is to it. we're getting off the island."

jin's endgame arc is going to be one that's going to remain understated and below the surface for the whole time most likely. all the ghouls are going to continue to dance around and in and out before the climax where it's finally going to happen, and that's what it's going to be! a finally. an "about time." a homecoming for a king.
