How to uplift & love lesbians in the rpc (& hopefully always??) even if you yourself are not a lesbian:
listen to lesbians?? esp trans lesbians and/or lesbians of color. we’re not a hive mind and we’re gonna vary depending on the person lmao.
if a character you’re playing is revealed to be a lesbian then it’s time to hang up the ships you have with men (because no, you can’t be a lesbian and date men, that’s Kinda A Thing), change your muse’s bio and rules, and move the fuck on. maybe make a psa post if you’re feeling sparky.
this isn’t the time to make “””””aus””””” where your lesbian muse is bi, dig your heels into the ground, or go “canon divergent” or w/e just so u can continue to ship them w/ men. That’s overtly shitty.
if you see friends doing this shit, you need to tell them to curb that shit. It’s not the time to be like “Well it’s their RIGHT to—” NAH DUDE, it’s erasure. period.
This is related to the first one, but also UNLEARN LESBOPHOBIA.
If someone says you’ve done something lesbophobic take a step back, evaluate, and then be better going forward. Dont play the keyboard bongos whilst insisting that you’re really in the right or guilt-trip the person telling you (ei: “im sorry i’m a horrible person and should die”)
Actively support lesbians. Trans lesbians and Lesbians of color. Older lesbians and baby lesbians who are just figuring themselves out. Lift their voices and make them feel loved and valued!! It’s easy and free!!!
Take an interest in lesbian muses! Again. Especially lesbian muses of color and trans lesbian muses. They need love! A lot of times people kinda. lose interest in muses that they don’t think are as “shippable”. 👏 f/f 👏 ships 👏 are 👏 good 👏 ships! 👏
feel free to add.
ALSO FUCKING LEARN THAT COMP-HET IS A THING. A bunch of lesbians have dated men in the past before they realized who they were. They may have dated men to actively suppress that part of themselves. If a character who is later confirmed to be a lesbian has had relationships with men that doesn’t invalidate her sexuality. Thank you.
Additionally: making fun of butches? Acting like they’re inherently predatory and/or portraying them as such in your writing? Super lesbophobic jsyk
portraiyal, sasha:
she was right about one thing. mr. peanut did hate her. it did make sasha feel a little better that someone was making things difficult for her impostor while everyone else had accepted her wholeheartedly into their lives like she was the same person. her dog had chosen to bark and be difficult, the only kind of relief she’d gotten while trapped behind a frame, unable to do anything.
‘ good. he’s not the only one who hates you. ‘ her voice was soft, barely audible but laced with venom. her painted features furrowed as she watched with dull eyes. time was hard to gauge, but she’d grown more and more resigned to her place.
‘ what could you possibly say that i would like? ‘ getting her hopes up that she would finally be free was one she’d given up a long time ago. the impostor probably just wanted to rub something new in her face.
No surprise that Sasha hates them. Graham does, too, but he never says anything. Never did, once he’d been put in the painting. They don’t expect to be liked, of course, and fear is expected, and evident, but the hatred... not unwelcome at all.
The smile is all teeth, giddily wide. “Freedom! Your life back, just as the moment you left it.” They cock their head to the side in thought. “Well, I mean that you’ll be recognised as you. I can’t promise time travel.” A little giggle, then, “Both you and Graham.” There’s a surprised look from the man, unaged since... oh, was it 2006? Just a little over ten years (at a guess), now. Goodness.
Anyway-- oh, Mr. Peanut’s about to go for the ankles. Bother! “So,” they say, hopping away from Mr. Peanut and his flush of rage, “I bring you out of there, and, in return, you destroy the Web table. The one with the--” The not-anything jumps onto the table, a final resort. “--‘optical illusion’, I believe you said. Graham remembers it.” A nod to the man, now turning away. “Very interesting to watch you from that table.”
Of course, teasing them isn’t likely to get them on side, so they dial it back, clapping their hands together, not unlike Nikola. “So! I give you both your lives and freedom back, and you break the table for me. Do we have a deal?”

Tips on writing good starters.
In the roleplay scene, it can be hard to handle the task of writing a starter or a greeter for someone else. Especially when your partners have different preferences, and you just aren’t sure if you can handle it. When you have a lot of starters to do all at once —— it can be quite daunting. So, with my years of roleplay experience — I gathered a few of my own tips that help myself when writing starters ( although, now I need to get over the obstacle of laziness ). I figured, hey — maybe someone else can get help from this.
1. Consider aspects of their muse. It sounds lame, but you need to kind of look at someone’s muse ( whether you know them well or not, canon or OC ) and figure out answers to questions such as “what kind of first impression do they give off?” and “how would they react to a stranger walking up to them?”. It’s best here to avoid topics that you feel may grow REPETITIVE. To you and your muse, a topic such as “who/what are you” or “why are you here” may be new, but to your partner it may not be. Try to avoid something as bland and repetitive, and try to find a new edge that makes a conversation or greeter all the more exciting that kind of grabs your partner’s attention more so than a thought like “oh another starter like this??”.
2. Think of how the starter will carry onward in a thread. Some people like shorter things, while others like to expand more. You want to try to fit a starter with your partner in this sense length wise, but all in all we should all agree we’d want a starter that could get your muses somewhere. Whether it’s knowing each other better, or developing a whole new plot on the fly — it all matters on the topic. Whether it’s a one-liner, single-para, multi-para, etc., it’s your responsibility as the one writing the starter to get something going, not your partner you’re writing the starter for. Avoid starters that makes them step up and get things going — or something too vague that no one knows what’s going on. Be clear, be interesting, and find something that can expand longer than just 2 or 3 replies. So you may write something like “hey, im lost. can you tell me where i am?” which could be quickly solved by your partner responding with directions or something — instead, aim for something more like “you’re lost too?? lets try sticking together to find our way back!” which will allow the muses to have potential bonding. Bland example, but it’s an example nevertheless.
3. Grab your partner’s attention. Try to write a starter that you feel will excite your partner ( but make sure you’re excited for it, too ). If you check out their blog // wishlist // etc., you may get a better idea of what they’re looking for in new roleplays. It can help avoid the problems in the two tips above, as well as giving off a good first impression as a roleplay partner that you’re excited, too! If you read their rules and see they enjoy plotting, you could always hit them up! But always pay mind to rules concerning everything.
That’s about all I have, since other posts cover other basics here!

“S’a bit high up there, isn’t it?” This isn’t a dig at the other man, who is considerably shorter than Danny -- then again, Danny’s pretty tall himself -- but standing on such a tall building is enough to give him the jitters, if he’s honest, even if it’s just as exciting. Awh, hell, he thinks, and starts to climb up. “Mind if I join you?”

A thing of the Slaughter. It’s still a little miffed over the aborted Unknowing ritual in the 1700s, but only on the principle of the thing. Other than that, it has no quarrel with any of it’s avatars. That said, this one is giving it a very... oh! Oh, yes it knows where this one comes from. That talk show host from... oh, when? A while ago now. But the point is... oh what violence he engaged in! What violence he inspires!
“Mr. Trapani,” it croons, its voice curling through its inhuman throat, “I must say I never thought I’d meet such an enviable avatar of any of the Fourteen.” Its current disguise, Not-Graham, could wait until it needed to mingle with other human people. Surely Maxell wouldn’t mind.
funny thought about Not-Sasha in her imitator verse, where she actually meets dancer!Danny and just... she still has Tom as “The Boyfriend Who Works At The Wax Museum”, and yeah that still holds true. sort of. except she’s developing hearteyes for Danny (who is... kinda-sorta himself, sort of. he’s trying in these stressful times--). so. lol.

A spider, a particularly big one, is creeping along the back of the kitchen counters. Not one of those peabodied little things, with such spindly legs, but a more substantial little fellow, and perhaps, if Martin leans in a little closer from where he’s sitting, a little fuzzy, too. One of the higher-ranking favourites on Martin’s list, for sure; he could watch it all day, even if his tea goes cold.
Not, however, if Jon comes into the Archives’ kitchen and starts for a cup of tea, or, heaven forbid, coffee. Which... ah, yes, here comes Jon now. Martin has to hide the little thing, or at least shoo him off elsewhere. But there’s little time, so Martin takes to standing in front of the spider. Right where the kettle is. Great.
“Hi! Um, cup of tea? I can make it for you, if you like.”

quick thing while i struggle with starters
---------
There’d been one person it had let go, way back in the 1800s, and they don’t even remember their name, nor what they looked like, their age, or... anything, really. It had been many people’s lives ago, it’s unreasonable to think it would remember that one person, despite the extraordinary circumstances. Not a mercy, of course, because still that person’s loved ones and friends and other acquaintances hadn’t recognised them, seeing as the impostor was still in their role.
It had wanted to see. And while it had served it’s patron well, despite the circumstance and its own curiosity, the person it does not remember fell victim to the Spiral. It was a bit put out by that, but they supposed fair was fair -- it let the person go, and they went mad with grief, and fell to another Entity instead.
It started to keep paintings only after Rose Cooper. Seeing if it could keep them around. Abject misery of being replaced and forced to witness it. Difficult to do so when married to someone else, of course.
Rose Cooper. Carl Moore. Graham Folger.
Sasha James.
Rose is dead by her own hand, and really, that’s not the sort of picture one can keep in their home, so it burned it, frame and all. Carl... well, he simply disappeared. Wandered off-stage? Or something. It keeps the picture, just in case he ever decides to turn up again. Graham has stayed, solemn and quiet, writing in his notebooks in the painting. Fascinating to watch, even without the table immediately present.
And Sasha? Interesting. Very interesting.
Tom will have to wait while Sasha argues her point. (She finds one of the newer dancers at the Circus far more compelling, anyway.)

“Evening, you.” It’s said to both the woman in the painting and the dog currently attempting to ignore the impostor. “I’ve had an interesting... evening.” Coerced into a movie night with Timothy and Martin, and... it’s not the first time they’ve thought about all of this. The... leaving the Circus (oh, if only they could, damn the table, damn Dekker, and damn Breekon and Hope, too), and... not for the first time, letting its victims out. It has done so, once, but it was long ago now, at least a century, and there’s more to gain from keeping them trapped.
“The kind of evening that had me thinking.” She wasn’t intending to watch the movie, an animation for children, but... well, kinship with non-human things, as much as they try not to pay that godawful itch any mind. Oh, she laughs then, sharp, deep in their own head. “Ah, well... thinking about changing things. I think you might like it.” Despite that, the smile is less than kind, or inviting.
And she... does think often of that one dancer. Particularly bold, that one. Nikola might look for them, if her nebulous plans were to ever come to fruition (and fuck it, why not?), but why shouldn’t she go forward with it? It’s still a terrifying thing, even without entrapments. “Besides, I think your dog hates me.”
@weavher / annabelle & notthem/notsasha.

“... Hello.” She tilts her head at the other woman, noting the lace and spider-y imagery just there, a little on the periphery, a smile growing slowly on her face. “Aren’t you an interesting sight.” There’ve been very few others that she’s met -- not without some instant aggression, anyway. Goodness, the Hunters. Those of the Web, at least, could prove interesting, something shared between it and the Stranger. Despite all her misgivings about being bound to the Table, she’s willing to dig into whatever spirals out from this.

He’s coming up close, so close that he could tap on the young man’s head, but however the Desolation has him marked, as it’s victim or it’s next and newest little agent, he’s not keen to test. Besides, he doesn’t want want to press a dent in potentially waxy skin -- feels all... oh, for want of a better word, ‘yucky’.
“What’s the matter with you, young man?” he asks, certain of isolation -- no-one else to bother or interrupt. Which certainly wouldn’t help the younger man’s nerves. Alas. “Something peculiar about you, I know.”
