Stranger Things ended with embracing individuality, something that Hawkins suppressed before the events. Same with Pleasantville, it was pleasant because everyone tried to paint the perfect picture by being the same and keeping stereotypical characteristics. In the movie, two siblings travel to Pleasantville (a classic 50’s (I believe) black and white show) and start changing the narrative by showing young people that safe sex is okay, reading is fun, painting “nudes” and what people would call “obscene art” is a form of self expression- causing those people (who are discovering individualism) to gain color.

Now, black and white people are starting to panic and going against the now fully colored people (individualist) yada yada yada blah, the show becomes colored instead of black and white, embracing the non-norm and creativity, destroying conservative structure and all
