     fiddling with her fingers, she forced a smile on her face, leaning back into the booth and focusing her gaze back on chaewon once again. “but i’m really happy for you. financially stable, smart, and still beyond gorgeous? wow… leave some of that for the rest of us.” there was a slight pink tint to her cheeks, though with the little bursts of confidence she would get around the person opposite, she wasn’t going to stop any time soon. “can i get you a drink? something to eat? we did say we were going to get lunch after all.”

     there’s a feeling of bashfulness that blossoms in her heart. where other’s would cave under an immense amount of pressure, chaewon flourished. i mean, the girl took on dance, a double major and a job whilst keeping her social life decently afloat and still somehow managing to play an active role in her brother’s life. “adulting is difficult, but it’s doable- i guess. i’m proof enough,” she grins cheekily. others would think chaewon was crazy, and perhaps she was.

     yet even so, she found it was all worth it. especially when jiyoung would look at her as she was now. those eyes that she had come to love seemed to be proud of her, and that was all chae really needed in this world. to have that one person, who would always be there. was she foolish to believe jiyoung would be that for her? 

     the instant jiyoung’s smile changes, chaewon notices. she always had been hyperaware of the other’s feelings. perhaps it’s because chae just wished to give her the entire world, because she certainly deserved it. in fact, she deserved more than the world. perhaps the entirety of the milky way, or maybe the universe. to see jiyoung happy, that was all she could hope for. 

     however the topic of her parents brings a slight frown onto her features; and without thinking, she reaches over and gently covers jiyoung’s hand with her own. while it saddened chae to think that she’d never get to meet the people that raised one of her favorite people, she knew that the relationship between jiyoung and her parents was a sore topic, and she never knew what to say. “if they had contacted you instead, would you forgive them?”

     it was a scary topic to tread on, while chae’s parents had been supportive, she knew that jiyoung’s parents did not hold the same sentiments towards the relationship that had bloomed between the two girls. it was such a weird concept for chaewon to wrap her mind around, how could her parents not be have that their daughter was happy. but she regrets asking the question, realizing a cafe was not the place to be so vulnerable. 

     the compliment leaves her cheeks dancing with warmth. while she had some sort of self-confidence, it seemed that compliments always seemed to make her heart race. “oh please ji, you flatter me too much.” curling her hair behind her ear, she cups her face in her hands, placing her elbows on the table as she gazes at the female. “perhaps an iced tea? i’m not too hungry,” she says. 

     “my appetite lately has been slightly non-existent, despite being busy with dance.” it was odd, feeling the need to explain herself to jiyoung. but she had always been a foodie, and declining an offer to snack was a bit out of character. maybe it was the butterflies, seeming to be performing their own dance sequence in the pit of her stomach.
