For many, a trip to the nail salon is a rare indulgence. All too often, work and the daily grind of busy schedules keep them from getting the necessary “me-time” that everyone craves and needs. But as Nailaholics celebrates and takes part in the country’s first ever #NationalPamperingDay, the brand hopes to remind everyone that it’s okay to take some time for yourself and indulge.

Perhaps no other nail salon in the country is better known for having perfected the art of a quick, urban pampering the way Nailaholics has. And before everyone gets a treat on October 17, I went ahead last Sunday at SM Marikina to have a much-needed me-time!  ❤️ My pamper sesh includes manicure, pedicure and foot spa - just what I deserve after a tiring work week. I tried Orly gel polish for the first time, love the neutral khaki tint on my nails! What do you think?

Hey Busy Bees! Have you heard of Beauty MNL? I’m sure you do! Well, for me, I’ve heard of this site for months, being active on social media, and my office mate usually orders here! However I haven’t gotten the chance to try this out for myself. But I really love their website! It’s very minimalist, organized, and just pretty on its own. Go check what I’m talking about here. ❤️

Another long overdue blog post, Busy Bees! I must say, this 2016 has been a blessed year for me. I’ve been traveling a lot (more than the usual, mainly because of work). I’m not even complaining. I’ve been so grateful for all these experiences, and I’ve learned soooo soooo much! God must have been good to me, and He really has better plans for me. ❤️

The event brought together today’s brightest young names in the different fields of style, such as makeup, couture, styling, and modeling.  Talks revolved around style and beauty in the age of social media and digital shopping.

Bea Constantino, one of the most celebrated fashion stylists in the country, shares how sometimes the most unexpected things turn out for the best, “Fashion was never my thing when I was young. But through the years, I fell in love with it. Inspiration comes from all over – from people to places and experiences. Surviving this industry is all about respecting those who came before you, learning relentlessly and finding your best self in the process.”  

Seeing fashion accessories as an investment was also a highlight in the discussion. Patty Ang, designer for Andi Eigenmann’s Cannes scene-stealer dress, said; “Invest in good jewelry. It’s a great investment because it stands the test of time. You can even pass it on to your children. Quality pieces, be it jewelry or leather bags, are great ways to add a sense of class to your wardrobe without feeling the need to update constantly.” 

As for online shopping? Haute Couture designer Sassa Jimenez gave the most practical tip: “Online shopping is great because you don’t have to decide (and spend) on the spot if you want to purchase an item. In fact, you can make a wish list when shopping online. Add the items in your cart. Sleep on it. Come back the following day and assess if you still want to push through with the purchase.”

An interesting topic during the discussion was the effect of social media on fashion trends and individual style. Most of the audience, comprised of bloggers and online influencers, realized that even the experts in individual fields were always on the lookout for inspiration from other people. In a truly social world, we inspire each other with our own unique style.

Nowadays social media is an avenue for people to express their passion for fashion through images, and maybe even live their passions as well. “I have to thank the internet because social media gave me my big break as a model,” was Kelsey Merritt’s sentiment on how her fame sky-rocketed due to Instagram. From her stylish clothes to gorgeous make-up, Kelsey’s Instagram account garnered enough traction that an NYC-based agency signed her as one of their models.

Angelo Yeo (beautylista.com) prepares for her FB Live makeup tutorial

The roundtable discussion was followed by a makeup tutorial sponsored by L'Oréal. Angela Yeo, celebrity make-up artist and owner of beautylista.com, showed the audience how to achieve an easy “office chic” look – an everyday dilemma faced by majority of working women. The tutorial was broadcasted through Facebook LIVE via Lazada’s account. As a vlogger, Angela stressed the importance of product reviews when shopping online.

The most important learning from STYLECON was best summed up by Bea Constantino, “Find your passion, always update yourself, and build your brand.”

This is a long overdue travel post, Busy Bees! ✌️ Last July, I’ve fulfilled my Birthday wish of travelling out of the country (FOR THE FIRST TIME! LOL!) with my college girlfriends, yay!!! First up, HK!

We went there from July 5 to 9, my Birthday was July 4 though, so I wasn’t able to celebrate with my family. Although, I was able to take this moment to be alone and do some soul searching, lol. There were days that I would go by myself, and not be with my friends. I believe I need and deserve this alone time. Nothing too private to talk about here, haha! ✌️

In this 4-day trip, we were able to experience Hongkong Disneyland, Ocean Park, and The Peak. I wasn’t able to go to Macau and Madam Tussauds though, prolly next time! ❤️

As weird as it may sound, it’s my college barkda’s first out of the town trip! And I was really excited about this since this trip has a lot of firsts: first plane ride, first Bora experience, and a lot of firsts!!!

Our 4 days 3 nights stay in Bora suddenly became 3 days 2 nights instead because of the delayed flight! We almost spent our whole day at the airport and arrived Bora at 9:00 PM. We just ate dinner and took a rest. Lola vibes on! Hence, we woke up early the next day for some Vitamin Sea! Everything was plainly spontaneous. that’s why we went for ISLAND HOPPING! But I guess, it was just a pure PR/Sales talk. We just went to cliff diving and snorkeling. We weren’t able to go to Puka beach, they said the waves are too strong already. Boo! Lol. But still we enjoyed. We also got to try Jonah’s fruit shake and chori burger, and capped off the night at Epic.

It was also a rainy and malumot beach trip! But nonetheless, it was a uber fun experience for a first timer. That’s it! As they, what happens in Bora, stays in Bora. Can’t wait to go back SOON! 🌊
