like some teenager gets saved and just goes “thanks, batman :) you’re doing great, actually” and he literally freezes because no one has said that to him since 1997. he just stands there in the smoke like some medieval knight having an emotional crisis. suddenly news anchors are saying stuff like “batman was seen preventing a mugging last night. great job, king” and the police scanner has gcpd officers doing it too “uh… b-man? mr batman, sir? rooftop on east. you’re doing… good. proud of you. over.” and batman’s cape very subtly twitches like he got shot

the batkids IMMEDIATELY clock what’s happening and it becomes psychological warfare:

nightwing on the group chat: You’re doing amazing, B!

robin: Father, I am… impressed. Do not make this embarrassing

red hood: nice punch. proud of you, buddy.

batman: Enough.

red hood: <3

babs starts leaving sticky notes on his gadgets like “good job charging your equipment :)”

and tim schedules google calendar notifications including “you matter. drink water.”

cass passes him in the hallway and bumps her shoulder into his like you’re here. so am i. she signs safe before disappearing again.

steph starts trailing him on rooftops yelling “DARK KNIGHT AAATE” until criminals leave out of secondhand discomfort

even the rogues are in on it. they all pool together to make a large bouquet (which looks totally incohesive, by the way) tied with a pretty bow and a small glittery card: thank you <3

Batman was once scolding Robin for sneaking out in the middle of winter without proper clothing and Superman stood up to defend Robin.

Batman just fixed him with a look, squared his shoulders and said

Roy: Hey—! You’re not Jaybird.

Roy: Bruce. Why do you have Jay’s phone?

Bruce: Jason is in the kitchen. I can bring the phone to him, but I doubt he’ll appreciate being distracted.

Roy, sighing: Yeah, he can be a real snob with cookin’.

Bruce, humming: Anything I can help you with, Roy?

Roy: Uh. Tell ya what, yeah, actually. I need some files from Jay about a drug ring he was following up on, they might be infiltrating underground gangs here in Star.

Bruce: I can help. If you’re organising a bust, is Lian being taken care of?

Roy: Yeah, I already asked Kori to mind her.

Bruce, satisfied: Perfect. She’s welcome to bring her to the Manor.

Roy, slightly suspicious of the goodwill but won’t complain: I’ll pass it on.

Bruce: Clark.

Clark: B! Nice to see you. How’s your day been?

Clark, frowning: Fine, last I checked. He hasn’t been at the farm in a while, but I saw him a few days ago.

Bruce: Hn. You might want to check in on him.

Clark: Is he alright?

Bruce: Physically, yes. He seems to be stressing an abnormal amount, though. Returning to parents’ farm might be beneficial for him.

Clark: He’s not the type to stress for too long.

Bruce: No.

Clark: I’ll check on him, I’m sure Ma and Pa miss him. Thanks, B.

Bruce: Just go.

Bruce checks his phone a few hours later to see a text message from Tim reading ‘i know you did something. thx, b’.

Bruce: You’re welcome to stay the night, Jon. It’s late.

Jon: Huh? Oh, no, it’s fine Mr. Wayne. I can just fly back. My parents will be expecting me.

Bruce: No need, I have already informed Clark that you’re staying.

Jon: ???

Bruce: Dinner will be ready in 10.

Bruce: Damian is waiting in the dining room. Have a nice evening.
