Our final project! Make/Unmake/Remake. I'm not sure which part I love the most but the project seems awesome so far!
MY BOOK CAME! It was super fast, expected delivery was the 18th so far everything looks good!
My package! I'm super proud of it. #design #packaging
Yay! I got my package assembled. I wanted to print the wood first but I was too excited lol. Hopefully the printing technique I use works 😓. Fingers crossed praying that it does lol.

My badly constructed dummy package for today I can't wait to make the real deal!
This weeks reading talked about transparency, modularity and grid. I enjoyed modularity but what really caught me was transparency. Before reading I never realized that transparencies are practically everywhere and they're not all opaque. For me this concept changes not only the meaning but it changes the way I look at things such as the scratches on my porch bars or how they overlap one another when seen at the right angle.
Packaging design! Never done it before lol I hope I did ok for my first time. I'm super excited to finish this project. So much more in store for this.
The third and final packaging that I chose came from lovelypackage.com, this reminded me of my toy because of its sort of scientific-like vibe. The dots sort of make up a kind of molecule which reminded me of one of the sketches that i made for a logo that i will use later on in the project. It also reminded me of the dots that I used to wrap around the light bulb in my logotype.Â
The second packaging I chose came from thedieline.com as well, my toy will be sort of a DIY or kit for kids to build their own bug. Even the contents are similar to our toy project because its just a bunch of random (safe) stuff for kids to use to make toys our of because kids will play with anything. The inside of the packaging is exactly how I would be making my package, the colors are fun, playful and mesh well with one another they also reflect the colors of the objects that are inside of the box. Its so simple yet so approachable.

For part two of our toy project, we are making packaging for our toys. I went onto a few blog sites to look for the three packaging designs that inspired us. The first one I chose came from thedieline.com, this wood packaging was very similar, almost exact, to the idea that was discussed. When I visualized the packaging as it was being described to me, this wooden box is what popped up in my mind. I even though about making a cloth bag (and or shirt) to go with the toy to put extras pieces, trinkets and even comics.
This weeks reading was all about layers. The book gave an abundant amount of examples of layers. The most important later for me right now would have to be digital layers and typographic layers. For our project as well as out process book layers have been saving my life. They also serve as a necessary point of visual interest. The example I enjoyed the most would have to be the makeready print because of how many layers it has. Even though I am not a "printmaker" (for now) I enjoy the thickness and volume of a quality layered print. All of the "junk" and different colors make it come alive and gives it depth.
Sketch, sketch, sketch! These are my 18 sketches for part two of our second project, which I am happy to say, is a PACKAGING project! I've never done package design before so I'm super excited!
OMG! I feel like I'm getting even more excited as this project progresses. I freaking LOVE this bug! I could be over exaggerating but I think it looks amazing so far. So cool!
Final pieces from Project 1. I was satisfied with how they came out, but I am even more pleased with how they look now that I have went through them and made changes that were written on the prints during the critique.

Oh look at how cute you are! This toy project is BRILLIANT! For my toy I'm making a little bug for kids with a scientific kick. I got his little wings on up next…LEGS. Can’t wait to see the finished product.
<p>Gestalt, Gestalt, GESTALT! This weeks reading took me back to freshman year at the University of Akron where gestalt was the basis for our semester long project. We ended up making a Gestalt process book/learning book. ! Gestalt principles are something that designers should be thinking about constantly when designing. It makes our minds think and work harder, it also makes us think we're smarter when we find the arrow in the FedEx logo, not to mention it's fun to say!
