john shrugged his shoulders as if to say it’s no big deal, “don’t worry about it. i can handle my shit.” he assured her with a softer smile, “what about you? been training on that right hook or not?”

“i’m aware of that, well, if you can, good.” she says with a small smile now looking at him. “i have, actually, i’m getting good, not an expert but i can handle myself pretty well, the basic stuff and all. you know that i’m a very fast learner.”

“Just… trying to clear my head.” Aden muttered with a small shrug. With everything that had happened recently, he had a lot on his mind. He was worried about Zoe and Alura, seeing his mother for the first time in years… it was all weighing on him just a little heavily. “I could ask you the same thing, what are you doing out so late?”

“that’s good.” maybe she was also doing the same, of course. a small sigh escaped from her lips, now looking at him. “i can protect myself really well.” the girl answered now with a small smile. “i had a lot in my head as well. i needed time for myself and usually this house, well, no one is really out, i just need to came back before my aunt realized i’m not in the house, i dont want her to worry about me.”

“No, I just… never pictured her with a kid.” Carter admitted with a small shrug. Was she the Joker’s child? She seemed weirdly well-adjusted if that was a case. “Sort of. I like to think your mom would have considered me a friend.” He agreed with a small nod.

“i understand that.” she says now with a small smile looking at him. “maybe, she was friendly, well, in a way...” in a way she was, but she also knew that harley quinn was someone really dangerous as well. “so uhm...you are...like she was?” the girl couldn’t help but ask, referring about her being a criminal. “you met...my dad too?”

“Yes, Tommy, I know.” Pamela muttered. She may or may not have done some digging once Lucy gave her a name. The fact the boy was Rory’s nephew had lessened her worries, but only just. He was also running around in a suit and getting shot at - Pamela didn’t know just how much of that Lucy knew about, but she would be damned if the girl got her heart broken because Tommy got himself killed. “I’m just looking out for you, darling. It’s nothing personal against him. Anyone you date is going to get the same treatment, I assure you.”

“that’s a relief.” she says now in some teasing tone as well, with a small smile on her lips looking at her. “look, i get your worries and thanks for that but no need to worry about anything, i’m in love with him, he does treat me well and he doesn’t judge me for my parents, he knows everything about me, i think that’s enough to trust him.” the girl took her hands, looking at the redhead. “thanks for being worried though, aunt pammy.”

“i haven’t…not yet, no.” tommy murmured as he looked up at lucy, leaning into the hand that cradled his cheek almost on instinct. “i don’t know if can just be there for him knowing that he’s putting himself in so much risk, luce. i mean…he could get hurt, i could lose him. it would kill my mother…”

the purple haired girl was listening to what he was saying, understanding what he means by that, she was always worried about her aunt and the dangers that can be around her. “the only option is talking to him and ask him to understand...” the girl muttered, looking into his eyes. “i wish i could help you more, i hate seeing you like this..” she muttered, now giving him just a small kiss and placing her forehead against his. “just talk to him, don’t avoid him. you might feel better if you do that.”

tommy peered up at her, smiling a little as he absently twirled one of the purple locks around his finger. he tried to shake off her concern but she had him in a corner, not so much literally as he felt the proximity shatter his fraudulent act. “it’s…it’s my dad.” tommy admitted as he wrapped his arms loosely around her waist, “i’m just worried about him. he’s doing something…risky that might get him hurt and i’m worried about him.” 

lucy would always try and find a way to help him, she wanted him to trust her with his problems and lean on her when things were hard so she would try her best to be always there for hr to help him out. the girl placed her hand on his cheek gently while listening to him. “have you spoke with him? maybe if you express your concern...” she muttered. lucy didn’t really have her mom alive but her aunt waslike her mom and if she was in that situation, she would totally do that, speaking with her about this. “but if he doesn’t want to listen, the best thing you can do is just to be there for him, tommy.”

“Woah!” Aden exclaimed as Lucy bumped into him, holding her by her shoulders in order to study her and letting out a small chuckle. “Luce, you good? You seem a little distracted.” He noted. Over the past few months he had gotten to know her tells pretty well - it didn’t take long for Lucy to suss him out as ARGUS, and shortly after that he had confessed his real interest in her had been due to her mother. Despite their parents’ less than friendly past, the two of them had become friends.

“Yeah, everything’s fine.” Pamela nodded quickly, pressing a quick kiss to Lucy’s forehead. “Just making sure you’re doing okay? Not just studies but in general.” She elaborated before raising an eyebrow. “How is the… boyfriend?” She asked, her tone a little clipped around the word. Pamela had to give him credit where it was due - 7 months and Pamela hadn’t heard any complaints or crying over him, but that didn’t mean she trusted him around her girl.

she smiled at her, the girl was glad that everything was okay, that her aunt was okay as well. “i’m fine, can’t really complain, no need to worry about me.” she was able to take care of herself and besides, she was okay as long as her family were okay as well. “he is okay, you always ask that and he has a name, you know? no need to be that overprotective, he is a really good guy.”

“hey.” tommy felt the tension leave his body when his girlfriend walked through the door - he’d only been home a few minutes himself, work was kicking his ass. working for your parents wasn’t exactly fun, and adding to that the fact that he was actively trying to avoid his father, it just made it all the more tedious. “that’s okay, come here.” tommy’s hand gently tugged at her wrist to bring her down onto the couch and pull her into his lap, “god, i missed you.” he whispered into her shoulder, his eyes closing briefly - he could feel his frustrations ease the slightest bit with lucy’s body curled into his arms as he breathed her in. “how was work?” he finally asked, looking up as he brushed one of the purple tendrils behind her ear.

“and you look grogeous, luce, as always.” john piped up as he pressed his lips into a smile, “it’s just a small fight - nothing too serious, you don’t have to worry about it.”

“i do my best to.” she muttered, almost with a small smile and looking at him. “if you say so...but just out of curiosity, a small fight with who exactly? i hope you are not getting yourself in trouble.”

Alura felt her skin beginning to crawl at the thoughts of her stacking transgressions. How many people will she implicate in her attempt to purge her guilt? Lucy had no loyalty to her or family but she seemed open to the idea. “I need safe passage to Gotham and tech to scramble my biometrics. ARCHER won’t be down for long and I need to be gone before they get it back online. I’ll pay you whatever you want—I just need to become a ghost.” 

if lucy was doing this, it wasnt because of something she can get in return but helping people was something she actually likes to do, if she can, of course because there are some things that she can’t do but if this was something she would be able to do, she was going to try. “i might know someone that can help you with that, you might need to pay them though. i don’t want money, don’t worry about it if i can help out, i will try. The only thing I’m asking is that you don’t implicate me in any of this.” Because her and her family was going to be always on top of everything else and by her family she was just referring to her aunt and her loved ones as well in general. she couldn’t afford to lose someone.

Harley… Carter frowned in thought for a moment before it dawned on him, his eyes widening comically at the realisation. “Harley Quinn has a kid?”

the girl shrugged. “why not.” the truth was that she didn’t like when people recognize her because of her mother, especially when she didn’t really know her much, she met her when she was a kid and then she lost her, that was all about it. “you are...like a friend of her or something? i just never really met my mom or her friends, maybe just one but that’s all.”

“Oh.” Carter blinked, not realising he had said anything in the first place. The girl had just looked… oddly familiar, and while he might just write that thought off back in the present - in the future there was every possibility she was related to someone he knew. He just couldn’t place it - trying to map her face to one of the Legends, or Flash crew. “Sorry, just… you look kind of like someone I know. Or knew? I think.”

the purple haired girl looked at the man now in front of her and closed her book, a small sigh escaped from her lips, she has heard that a lot. “not the first time someone say that to me.” she says with a small smile. “that depends if you met my mother when she was alive, her name was harley.”

Reena shrugged. “Horror movies are fun. It’s the only time it’s socially acceptable to scream in public. Plus, half of them aren’t even scary. Not when there’s real shit going on in the world to be afraid of.” But she didn’t want to sound like a total weirdo, not in front of a stranger, so she laughed. “No, it’s not that bad. I’m just being dramatic. I still love her and everything. You’re an only child? I guess a lot of parents decided it was safer that way, huh.”

“well, it is like we are living in a horror movie so i can totally understand that.” that’s why horror movies weren’t actually something she enjoys because life was scary enough for her. “yeah i’m only child or i think. i wouldn’t really know, i never really met my dad so...” she says with a small shrug, it didn’t affect her much anymore and mostly because she knew who her dad was and she was better to never knowing him. “but having a sister sounds like fun sometimes.”

“Your mother had connections in Gotham, right?” Alura leaned closer. She needed a safe passage to the sister city for some time to reevaluate her next steps. Central City wasn’t safe. If she could convince Lucy to help, maybe she’d be able to bus a safe line for her entire family to flee. “I need to know if you may still hold those connections.”

“yeah, she had a lot.” the thing is that she never really knew her moth much like her aunt but she still can have access to that, she was sure about that because she has also been researching a bit since she wanted to know more about that world and about her, mostly. “not here but i know how to get them, what do you need?”

“What are you writing?” Pamela repeated, cocking her head at her niece curiously.

“just some studies, but i’m taking a break now.” she says with a small smile, now closing her book and looked at her aunt. “so, everything is okay? i know things here have been a bit...chaotic lately.”
