I like you.

At any given moment, one of these boats is out on active patrol, ready to fire within fifteen minutes. It’s been that way for over fifty years. We’re not going to abandon it over one man’s mistake and some bureaucratic bullshit.

One of my favorite relationships in The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune is between sprites Zoe and Phee (the mentor and the mentee). As Arthur Parnassus’ right hand person and integral part of the Marsyas family, Zoe does her best and is universally adored. 🧚🏾‍♀️

I admittedly got a bit wibbly drawing this one. There’s something so lovely about Zoe’s dynamic with all the kids, but especially with Phee, and it hit me right in the feels.

the humanity of the AIDS crisis: the ward by gideon mendel

I want to remind you this was the eighties. THE EIGHTIES. Color cameras existed. Color VIDEO CAMERAS existed.

Someone put these in black and white to make them seem long ago and far away.

mendel is still documenting and lifting up the voices of people who live with hiv/aids in the project “through positive eyes”. 

if mendel hadn’t taken these photographs, we wouldn’t have a record of these  patients and the ends of their lives at all. it was extremely unusual for aids wards to let photographers in, and the patients took a risk in letting mendel photograph them and their loved ones.
