A Pokemon Fan Story - Aura Ranger/Prologue: The Definitive Moment.
That is all :D
———————————————————————————————————–
“The World of Pokemon is a place of varying ecosystems home to many types of said Pokemon and People, and both vary in motivation and love for present times, past altercations, and future dreams or passions.
While at face value the world seems in balance and at peace, but that doesn’t mean this world has its own dangers and trials for those who pass by them. Many a Person and Pokemon go out into the world to find their place in the world despite this, and grow because of it while creating everlasting bonds with others and to those closest to them. Sometimes this can apply to both Pokemon and Humans in separate, but in many cases with recent history, it is typically that of a bond with Human and Pokemon that drives the light of the world to shine ever brighter and brighter.
However, as many forces as there are to keep balance and prosperity, there are just as many attempting time and time again to bring more darkness into this world without a second thought as to who might be affected by it, those who only seek personal societal gain and profit, or those who only seek chaos when times of tension are so thick that the simple sound of ruffling grass could alarm an entire village to defense.
But none of this is surprising or new, none of it you haven’t heard or experienced before, and none of it should be something to enter your conscience so much that it will consume you. Those of you here in front of this stage are bright young men and women who face the world head on! Who face adversity in stride no matter what form it may take! And you face trials that will take your actions to define you for the rest of your life! And yet you are still here! You have passed the entrance exams and now have gained the ability to walk the path of a Ranger! For this, You all have already won!”
Kiri opened her dark blue eyes, recollecting herself from the recent memory and daydream, a speech given by the head of the Ranger Union still playing in the back of her head. The wind caressed her pale white skin, green ranger academy uniform, and bright violet hair as she breathed in and out through her nose, contemplating where she was now.
“The Almia Pokemon Ranger Academy…” Kiri spoke with a soft voice and turned her head to the green-roofed academy building in the short distance from the rock-grassy hill she sat on.
She felt awkward about the situation as a whole and didn’t know if this would work. Yes, she performed above standards for the entrance exam, not to mention her parents fought tooth and nail to help her, but she couldn’t help but feel as though this was a lost cause in some sense…
‘No, no, no…. I shouldn’t be thinking like that, not after everything they went through to do this for me.’ Kiri said in her mind, pushing away creeping thoughts of insecurities, ‘they want to help me and I need to show that I’m not a lost cause to my dream! To…. finally be able to bond with at least more than one Pokemon…’
Kiri frowned as a deep feeling of sadness crept into her heart and distant memories she tried to immediately push out of her mind. Although she spent a minute trying to think of a swarm of Butterfree flying right in front of her, her favorite Pokemon game starring legendary trainers and their stories, to no avail she couldn’t shake the lingering thought occupying the vacant spot in the back of her mind.
Kiri stood up, and in a last-ditch attempt to keep her mind away from more intruding thoughts, she began to walk back towards the Academy. However, before she left the hill she heard shuffling behind her. She quickly glanced behind her and noticed a bush with a hole in the center of the bush a few feet from the tree. Her eyes foresaw a small translucent blue flame in the bush, yet it didn’t burn the bush. The top of the ember swayed erratically side to side, and the ember itself was slightly shaking.
Kiri closed her eyes and shook her head as she suddenly began towards it, tears welling up in her eyes. As soon as she approached her heart the same shuffling, except more sporadic with a yelp that sounded, “Bid!”
Kiri opened her eyes once more, wiping away the edges of her eyes from the liquid that was once held in her eyes, and frowned as she spoke to herself, “I’m not… dangerous… please come back.”
Stillness greeted her again, and a mixture of emotions brewed within her mind, channeling the previously pushed back memories.
She just wanted this to stop, everything like what just happened in front of her just goes away. She never wanted to meet every Pokemon she saw, only to have them run away from her like she was the embodiment of all evil! Nothing hurt her more, nothing she ever did felt like it was helping, and after all these
The sound came from behind Kiri and before she could even turn around to greet the familiar cry, a small warm sensation hit her right hand and traveled around her body only to travel to the rest of her body.
The building doubts stopped as Kiri stood there with a dumbfounded expression toward her right hand, along with different conflicting emotions as an outside force spoke within the depths of her mind saying, “Don’t give up that easily! Come on, You only just got to the school you’ve been dreaming about since forever!”
Kiri’s frown turned neutral and her eyes held a different meaning as she quickly gritted her teeth and stared down the school as though it just challenged her to a Pokemon battle. She began to softly smile as she called on her own motivation that began to race through her body as she held a hand to where her heart was.
“Of course not Mew, I just got a bit sidetracked in thought. Thanks for the reminder.”
Kiri left the hill and traveled down towards the school, an obvious lack of Pokemon crossed her mind and the ones that were by other Academy Students currently enjoying the first day at the prodigious school. The Pokemon gave Kiri passing looks as she made her way towards the doors, once inside she was greeted by the start of her journey.
