i just saw sixcago and iâm FEELING things
hereâs a little compliation of things i liked while seeing six at the chicago shakespeare theatre.
- i know people sometimes say the sixcago cast isnât really INTO their characters or whatever, but oh my god? the banter and the little sidebar conversations ⌠so good
- adrianna hicksâ rendition of âno wayâ HITS. oh my GOD. sheâs so cocky beforehand with her little, âokayâs. especially when sheâs like âthen i saw henry, and i was like OKAYâ
- then the banter before âdonât lose ur headâ was so cute. they were hyping anne boleyn up, and the lights are all on the rest of the girls. then it goes dark, and a green light is just on anne while sheâs on her phone.
- andrea macasaet is such a hyper boleyn. she kind of reminds me of a small child. but maybe thatâs because sheâs short
-âcatherine of aragon was a huGE CUNââ
-i forgot the exact context, but iâm pretty sure adrianna/aragon makes a jab or two at andrea/boleyn being short as hell. itâs funny
-i personally typically skip heart of stone because itâs a ballad amongst pop songs, but OH MY GOODNESS. abby muellerâs speech beforehand was HEART. WRENCHING.
-âmy son was separated from his mother!â âkiND OF LIKE HOW MY HEAD WAS SEPARATED FROM MY BODY.â
-haus of holbeinâs whole tinder thing was so funny with the likes and dislikes
-a magical ingredient .. from your BLADDER
-âitâs so hard.. living in a large estate in richmondâŚ.. with more money i could ever spend in my entire lifeâŚâŚ with no man to tell me what to do⌠itâs so awful.. itâs⌠Tragic.â
- brittney mack made someone in the front row bust down it was so funny she was like âAYYEEEâ
-one of the queens told anna of cleves to, quote unquote, Go Off.
-ALL YOU WANNA DO WAS UTTERLY HEART WRENCHING. maybe iâm biased because howard is my favorite and i LOVE sam pauly, but oh my goodness.
-you can see the heartbreak and realization in her eyes when howard begins talking about henry. sheâs so starry-eyed and excited, like everything up to here had been a game. choreography-wise, too.
-for the first two verses, parr and seymour grab her shoulders, pretending to be henry mannox and francis dereham. howard lets them. but then, when howard says âhe says we have a.. connection..â about henry, seymourâs hand trails across her waist, and howard looks horrified.
-then it continues when it comes to thomas culpeper. all the queens grab at parts of howardâs body, and she just stands there, eyes wide, her voice shaky and nervous as she sings. she used to shake the hands off, but at this point sheâs letting herself be swayed.
-oh god, then here comes the ending. everyoneâs off stage, howard has sung the final verse, and sheâs onstage just sobbing. she stands, sobbing for a good 15 seconds before continuing on with the rest of the musical.
-âI WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL THE MEN WHO GOT ME HERE, AFTER ALL IT WAS A DIFFERENT TIME BACK THENââ
-âwhat could be worse than a lifetime filled with trauma and abuse?!?!â
-boleyn and aragon are competing the entire musical itâs pretty funny.
-boleyn: i had THREE MISCARRIAGES
aragon: oh yeah? WELL I HAD FIVE
parr: ISNT THIS A LITTLE INSENSITIVE????
-âwow it mustâve sucked almost getting sent to a nunnery and then not going. it mustâve almooooost sucked.â
-parr is so sweet i cry .. i donât need your love was prefaced with her explaining how she loved someone else and how, âhenry was single and looking for an unsuspecting woman to marryâ
- GOLD STAR FOR CATHY PaRR
-iâm too tired to continue this but the moral of this is: IF YOU HAVE THE CHANCE TO SEE SIX, IâM BEGGING YOU, PLEASE SEE IT. the soundtrack is already amazing but the banter in between each song really makes it super witty and funny
