The United States of America has the highest prison population in the world

Black Americans and Latin people make up the majority of this population (many of whom are non-violent offenders)

Federal Prisons in America require that their state keeps their prisons at a maximum occupancy at all times.

If county-A has a population of 50 voters but no prisons, and county-B has a population of 50 voters and 50 prisoners, the county with the prisoners gets more government funding and more political represention. This is sometimes called “prison gerrymandering” and it is used in redistrictring.

Under western norms, a girl is raised in a nuclear family by her father (Patriarchy = rule of the father, in case anyone has forgotten or never bothered to learn in the first place) and then given to a husband to live in his home. The core concept of separatism is giving women a means of living outside of this model–separatism is about challenging the notions that a woman needs a man to raise her children, that she needs a man to fall in love with, that falling in love with a man necessarily means she has to live with him, marry him, make him her primary relationship in adulthood, that women need to work for men and live with men and rely on men in any capacity for shelter or food or clothing or survival or any of our basic needs. 

Yes, the idea everyone has in their heads of separatism is lesbian separatist communes (which I am all for, let’s be clear), but it’s not like we expect 3.5 billion women to move into the wilderness to leave the cities to men. Suburban separatism would be communal living in a house with women and raising your children together instead of forming nuclear families, urban separatism would be largely similar. Like, imagine a rooftop garden and an entire floor where you live with your closest female friends and have family dinners together every Sunday! 

I know it’s easy to take the most one-dimensional interpretation of a concept you’ve barely heard of and don’t understand and whinge about how absurd it is, but for the love of goddess could y’all try just a LITTLE bit harder to exercise the critical thinking skills you’re all so fond of pretending you have?
