I sit here in this rocking-chair and look down in my lap, a blond haired girl so beautiful, trying to take a nap. Thoughts and memories run through my mind, so rampant like the wind. Have I done what I can and should, for my next of kin? Today, the third Sunday in June, a Day "all about the dad's" a day we share with our loved ones about all the great times we have had. I'm so grateful for my dad and the example he is to me. This great man has always shown his love unconditionally. There were times of murmur, times of doubt and times I did not do my best, but no matter what I did, my dad would love me no-less. There are times I wish I would've listened, and done what he had asked, but I sit here and wonder to myself "would it have changed the past?" Maybe for better, maybe for worse, this I will not know, I am where I am now because of it all, and I wouldn't trade that for gold. Fathers Day? What is that? A day to sit and rest? A day I sit and ask myself, have I done my best? I know there are things that I can do better and things I should have done, but I guess that's why he died on the cross, the only begotten son. As my daughter grows older I want her to know beyond a shadow of doubt, I will always love her the same, that's what Jesus taught about. There's no greater title than Daddy, but it is quite a chore, I wake up each new morning for the love she will outpour. Grateful for another Father's Day, here upon this earth, I'm also grateful for my other father I knew before my birth.
