IF YOU ARE IN HURRICANE LAURA’S PATH, PLEASE EVACUATE NOW! THIS HURRICANE IS NO JOKE!!!! WITH THE WARM WATER, NO SHEER, RAPIDLY INTENSIFYING, I WOULDNT BE SURPRISED IF THIS STRENGTHENS TO A CATEGORY 5 AT LANDFALL. THE STORM SURGE (which is one of the biggest killers of hurricanes) IS UNSURVIVABLE. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THIS STORM, PLEASE EVACUATE WHEN YOU STILL HAVE THE CHANCE. THERE IS NOTHING SURVIVALABLE ABOUT THIS STORM. DO NOT RISK YOUR LIFE FOR THIS STORM IF YOU DONT HAVE TO.

here’s some tips from my hubby:

• take a pair of jeans, rubber ban the ankle park of the jeans, and knot them as TIGHT as possible. after banding them and knot them, SLAM those bitches into the water, and it will help you float temporarily. eventually, they will lose air so this is a life or death thing.

• find debris (oak, cedar, plywood), and hold on to dear life. storm surge isn’t just calm water, it will be a very very bumpy ride. storm surge is the ocean coming onto land, so remember... there could be ocean creatures in there as well. but, most debris from houses should be able to float.... just hold on like your life will depend on it, and it will.

• locate neighbors that have boats NOW. this will be your ONLY decent chance of survival.

• crayons burn slow, so light that if you can and need to.

• HIS BIGGEST PIECE OF ADVICE IS EVACUATE NOW IF YOU CAN. THIS STORM LEAVES YOUR CHANCES OF SURVIVAL AT A BARE MINIMUM.

please be safe. this isn’t just the immediate threat on the coast lines. hurricanes are scary, even at a category 1. if you’re not in it’s initial path when it makes landfall, FILL YOUR BATHTUB UP WITH WATER SO YOU CAN BATHE, AND FLUSH YOUR TOILET. for animals: if you have a kiddie pool, fill it with litter/fake grass so they can use the bathroom. PLEASE HAVE WATER ON HAND, YOU HAVE A GREATER CHANCE OF LOSING POWER THAN NOT LOSING IT. canned foods, candles, ready to eat meals. important documents in the dishwasher saved me. A BATTERY POWERED RADIO, OR MANY PORTABLE CHARGERS NEED TO BE CHARGED SO YOU ARE UPDATED.
