"This series of self-portraits by Hungarian photographer Noell S. Oszvald are both intriguing and striking. In a series of black and white photographs, the 22 year old creatively manipulates self-portrait photographs and merges them with natural elements such as water, birds and plant-life. I love how the pictures have aspects which are only noticed on closer inspection; the way the shadow of the bird merges with the shadow of the artist to form a shadow of an angel. The photographs really drew me in and I found myself captivated and wishing to see more.

Oszvald has chosen to do the photographs in black and white as she finds that the use of colour distracts from the form and composition of the art. These photographs are so appealing because they evoke feelings of being in a dream-like state, typical of surrealism. They are both realistic and romantic, certainly a form of escapism for me."
