(sending this on anon so my adult blog doesn’t show up, but my little blog is @tigerhoshi1996 )
hello darling! you miss your hoshi, huh? i do too… i haven’t written for him in such a long time so here you go! horanghae!! 🐯🩷
It had been months since you’ve seen your caregiver and you were starting to spiral. You understood that Caregiver!Hoshi was very, very busy and you’d done a great job taking care of yourself on little days, but it was taking its toll. You missed your Tiger so much that it hurt, and you wondered when he was coming back.
Whenever you spoke on the phone with him, it consisted of lots of “Tiger’s supposed to be asleep soon, honey.” and “Tiger’s across the world right now, can I call you back?”. You hated it -why did he have to have such a busy job? Jeonghan didn’t have to leave Korea! Everyone saw Jeonghan often, why couldn’t they see Soonyoung? You didn’t get it.
You’d spent the whole day out with Jeonghan, who was babysitting you and catching up after he’d just been discharged from the military. The whole time, you complained about how much you missed Soonyoung, or that Soonyoung would have loved the hat you both saw in the mall. Jeonghan -who usually would have lost his temper at you- didn’t seem to mind. No, Jeonghan had a trick up his sleeve, something he and Soonyoung had been planning.
So after your shopping trip, Jeonghan took you back to your home. He brought in your bags and turned on cartoons for you, before patting your head. “Yahh… don’t open the door for anybody Y/N, okay? If anyone comes by, it’s because we have the key. Promise?”
You’d heard it all before: stranger danger. “Okay, Hannie.” You nodded, turning your attention to the cartoons. Jeonghan made sure you were safe and left the apartment, locking the door behind him while you watched your favorite cartoon.
You hadn’t even realized how long you’d been watching TV until you heard a knock on the door. You froze, scared. “Stranger danger” you whispered to yourself, pouting and holding your stuffed animals closely. There was another knock and the air felt tense, still and heavy. Who was at the door?
The keyhole jiggled and there was a clicking sound, the sound of a key in a lock. That calmed you down a bit, assuming one of the other members of Seventeen was coming to check on you…
There stood Soonyoung in his uniform, hair buzzed short and overnight bags in hand. You couldn’t believe your eyes! Was this even real?
Your eyes lit up. “Tiger!” You screamed, running towards him and practically knocking him over in a hug. “Missed you, missed you, missed you!”
“I miss you too, Cub.” He chuckles warily, hugging you back with notably stronger arms. “Is Y/N feeling small today. Lucky me, I get to visit the baby!” You let go of him and he held up his hand with curled fingers, grinning familiarly.
You beamed up at him and did the same, giggling and running around to gather your things. “Oh! Tiger, Tiger! Look what I’ve been up to! I’ve been good an’ eated my veggies an’ listened to all the oppas/hyungs -they babysit me sometimes!” You’re speaking a mile a minute, excitedly gathering new toys and drawings to show your caregiver. Soonyoung can only sit and watch in admiration of what he’s been missing.
Eventually, you stop running around and finish showing him all of your new toys and things. “Tiger? You’re stayin’ forever now, right? Not goin’ back?” You asked hopefully, flashing the biggest puppy eyes you could so that he would stay.
That’s when Soonyoung’s smile dropped and he became really serious. “Well… I’m only on leave for the week, actually. It’s gonna be while after that. I won’t be fully out of the military until March. Do you know how many months that is, Cub?” He asked, holding your cheek gently.
You stick out your tongue and count on your fingers. “Uhm… uh, is…” You murmur to yourself. “Eight?” You guessed.
“Yes! Very good, my cub is so dang smart!” He ruffled your hair. “It’ll be a while. I’ll come back when I can and I’ll call lots and lots. But I’ll have to go back after this week.”
“But… but that’s unfair, Tiger!” You argue, putting your hands on your hips and stomping your foot.
Soonyoung laughed at the display, his little Cub was every fiery -they get it from their Tiger, he thinks. “I know it’s unfair. Sometimes things seem unfair but that doesn’t mean that they’re bad. Y’know what’s so fun about this?” He asked.
“Tiger can get super, duper strong in the military and then you can swing off of my arm, like Cheollie’s little does. Wouldn’t that be fun?” He’s grinning at you, a smile that practically blinds you with how bright it is.
You cave. “Yeah… sounds really fun.” You admit, hugging Soonyoung tightly. “Don’ want you to go, though.”
“I don’t wanna leave you, Cub. But sometimes, we gotta do things we don’t like. That’s why we make the best of things we do like.” He scooped you up into his arms and pressed his forehead to yours. “I missed my little Cub so much.”
“Missed you too…” You murmur, putting your thumb in your mouth. Being held by Soonyoung always made you feel so small… so, so small. So safe in his arms. So calm.
Running around like a feral cat made you a tiny, tiny bit sleepy. And really, you have alllllll week to spend with Soonyoung, so if you dozed off just a little bit in his safe, strong arms that’s nobody’s business but yours.
