sí sí 🥹 lo he estado aprendiendo desde el preescolar pero mi conjugación no es estupendo pq casi nunca nos enseñaron la gramática 😞 mi primaria era una escuela dlip (dual language immersion program) que significa que el kinder era 100% en español y luego en primer grado era 90% y 10% en inglés etc etc hasta mitad y mitad en 5to

en middle school (todavía no sé que llamarlo, ¿secundaria?) tomé español como clase electivo, entonces tenia esa clase y luego my clase de historia también se enseñaba en español

en high school (¿secundaria también? ¿colegio?) tomé español AP que era mejor, (¡saqué un 5!) mi profesora era de argentina entonces hablaba mucho de ello jaja pero ella nos corregiríamos si cometimos un error, que me gustó

y sí, ¡eso es todo! una vez fui a comprar fruta de un hombre mexicano y él me dijo que mi español suena muy buena entonces espero que eso sirve de prueba de mi acento en cima de que lo he hablado desde de que tenía como 3 o 4 años

Full context: the play opens on the main character, college aged, rushing through an airport and missing their plane. There’s a series of moments between them and strangers they meet while stuck at the airport, and there’s a bunch of flashbacks to them while they were in high school. Their mom died from a hereditary disease when they were in high school and they had no idea what to do, but their half sister who they didn’t know about showed up and they got really close really fast. Main characters goes off to college but after a little while they find out their sister has the same sickness and treatment is expansive as hell so they use their college money (inherited from their mom) to pay for their sisters treatment, all while lying about them still being in school because their sister wouldn’t want them to use the money for her. Here’s where the two options are:

either their sister died and that’s why they’re finally flying back home, just to deal with stuff

OR they finally had enough money saved after draining all their savings on the treatment to fly home to be with their sister but they get stuff in the airport instead and kind of break down but their sister shows up at the airport and surprises them.

and like. Yeah. Something about the wording feels so right, yk? I paraphrased it a little but I feel like using the word power hungry to describe a protagonist is so rare??? Like that's soooo him. He's power hungry!!! Maybe not for necessarily malicious intentions, but he is, and it's so telling of who he is.

Like an intrinsic theme/fact about Kieran is that he's not wanted, he wasn't wanted, was a mistake the moment he was born. Even before he was deemed Talentless (and that just made everything worse), he always knew that to be true. With that pairs this intense urge to make up for it in some way, whether that be friendship with Meris, obsessive exercise/strength training, or telekinesis. It's all a way he can protect himself, or feel protected. When that's risked in some way (such as Meris gaining an ability or he's questioned/challenged in some way), he gets really upset and destructive - his insecurities also play a big part as to why he immediately jumps to ruining himself so completely, because across his stories, it's like. Every time he must fully kill who he was in favor of something "better".

but yeah, you can be power hungry and be in the “good” side, you can be power hungry and not just be a lunatic dictator
