[text] There is an alarming amount of glitter in my⌠everywhere (this is how I make my return..wow)
âMy dear Bottom, you have been leaving a trail of glitter from wherever you went, no wonder you have it all over you too.â Will smiled good naturedly âHad fun last night?â
williamplayspeare:
âAnd I could help you write it, my dear.â He said. âOf course not invading your creativity, just polishing minor things.â
Waiting for what came after the pause, he could not help the laughter and the applause. âBravo!â
Nickâs eyes brightened as he leapt up.
âYou would truly polish it? You would help me get famous?!â
In all reality, the question was, in fact, vain. Â But all in all, Nickâs vanity was fueled by a much deeper desire to be accepted.
âI make you laugh, good sir, do I not?â

Over. Under. Over. Under. Loop. Tie. Done.
Nick Bottom looked at the basket in front of him with a broad, pleased grin. Â It had turned out even better than expected. It was his largest creation yet. Â In truth, it was meant to serve as a basinet for a half-fay child but no one had to know that. Anyway, he set the finished product aside and stretched, yawning as he did so.
The yawn came out as a bray and he quickly looked around making sure no one heard, but only finding one person in direct earshot.

williamplayspeare:
âCongratulations, my good fellow!â Will grinned, bringing Bottom into a hug âIt does take a special skill to play such difference roles at once, and I do trust you will prove your companions wrong, after all.â
âExactly my point! Ok! Hear me out.â Nick threw an arm around Willâs shoulders. âI really want to do a one man show of everything that happened last night! Isnât that brilliant!? I think the crowds will love it, because itâll show that âhey, Iâm an ordinary guy, but extraordinary things happen to me!â He paused. âI donât think thereâs much meaning to it. Does there need to be....â He paused, â A BOTTOM!?â
Nick beamed eagerly at will like a child expecting a reward.

âOh, I would not pay much attention to the forest part if I were you.â He offered him his hand. After all, the poor fellow might need it to get out of the glitter puddle. âThe happiness is what matters. After all, you are a difference from the many men that wake up in the same situation, but feeling miserable and regretting all their choices in life.â
Nick took the proffered hand with a grin.
âWhat choices are there to regret? I had a lovely evening.â He rose. âAnd I have a play to star in, anyway! Did you know I can play the role of both lover and tyrant? At once! Ha!â He grinned, shaking more glitter out of his hair. âItâs really a shame that  my companions seem to think otherwise!â
ageoftheoddball:
Cactus had escaped from bossy Zinnia and whiny Amaryllis and the watchful eye of Queenie for a time. She caught a little lizard fairy the creak and sunk her many pointy teeth into its neck and feasted on its insides. Its meat was soft and slippery, not at all like its hard outsides. The dragon-fae hybrid sat on a tree branch enjoying her small meal when something rather odd hit her ears. At first she thought it must be one of the singing fairies celebrating but then she realized it was certainly not in Faerie tongue. In fact, she could not much tell what it was in. It sounded like what the Queen would call âgibberish.â Cactus rather liked âgibberish.â She made it up herself.âBut she heard a few human words.
She ran her tongue over her fangs and listened more closely to the obnoxious singing for clues. She put on the mask of invisibility as the voice drew nearer. She did not want to be seen yet. Especially not in all her golden-scaled glory. Most human-folk ran from her in her dragon-fae form. Only children ever really opened their mind and this loud voice was a manâs, definitely.Â
She looked down and saw him. Yes, an adult. What Zinnia would call a âdoofusâ she thought. She giggled and flew to the ground and shadowed him, listening to the song. If he was attentive he might hear her light footfalls but most would not. She was a predator after all. A master of stealth. She folded her leathery wings and prepared to drop her invisibility. She wanted to talk to the doofus. It would be more funny-like that way. Also, he was bound to be eaten by one of the trees or one of the hungrier or meaner fairies if she did not warn him soon. So she put up her human glamour, a woman of long black tresses and light white skin, tall, with dark eyes. The invisibility faded.
She spoke at last.
âFunny man sings funny song. But he draws attention to himself in a dangerous forest. Soon he will be eaten if he is notâŚcarefulâŚâ
âAAAHHHH.âÂ
Nick Bottom fell to the ground.  This is the first he had seen anyone in this forest since...since it happened. âEaten?â He staggered up, brushing off his shirt. âNonsense! I could never be eaten. I have wandered this path many many times before.â
As he spoke, he swore he felt something different around his head. A sensation which, at this point, was common. But, just the same, terribly, terribly inconvenient, unless....No, surely this woman was not one of them. Â He remembered Titaniaâs fairies.
âAnd hey! Iâm not funny!â He protested eyed her. âUnless that was a compliment?â
Twitch twitch went the ears.

âI must admit I am not entirely sure how much I remember.â He scratched his head and then rubbed his eyes, even more glitter falling out, practically pooling out into a puddle by his feet. âIt was certainly fun. I awoke feeling happy. But I also awoke in the forest so I am not entirely sure what that says.â His lips pulled back into a grin anyway. âNot the first time itâs happened either.â He released a laugh that made his belly shake.

When Nick wandered, he sang. Â Often loudly. Â Both in the presence of others and alone.
âSumer is a cuminin, wunder sing, coocoo. Groweth sed and bloweth med and spring the wunder-nu.â A pause for a breath.  âSing COOO COOOOO.â This part came out as more of a bray than anything else, but Bottom did not even flinch.  Instead, he  kept singing.
The forest, as far as he could tell, was empty. Â And, like the nights that came before, this was more a disappointment than anything else. Â Everywhere he sought glimpses of silver and the sound of bells but not once did he see her. His faerie queen. Â His Titania. Â But just the same he trekked forward.

"Yes.  I am mortal, but not completely human." She brushed off some grass and flower petals that had ended up on the upper skirt of her dress. "I suppose creatures like that arenât entirely a surprise here. I must be in another⌠world."
"You're somewhere outside of Athens." He looked at her.  He, admittedly, was grateful at the words not completely human.  They were almost a confirmation that he had not, in fact, gone mad and his queen could be closer than imagined. "Are you a faerie?" His eyes lit up at the potential guiding light before him. "I've been among fae before." He laughed joyously, clasping his hands in a proud exclamation that he was getting closer at long last.
"I'm not sure how this happened, but I'm in the wrong place."
Nick had been wandering, singing loudly as he did so, searching for her, his Faerie Queen.  That was how it was.  In the weeks, months even, following the incident that unfolded that midsummer eve, that was how his nights played out.  The voice took the weaver by surprise and he jumped, staggering back. Was she human? He couldn't tell.  Fae? Something else? Nick Bottom strode to the sound of the voice.
"Are you a mortal?" He wasn't sure why those were the first words he uttered.
