Ways of Worshipping Freyja

- cat, falcon, goose, hawk, pigs, horse, rabbit, cuckoo, oxen, ladybug, swallow and boar imagery

- cat whiskers and flaws (ethically sourced)

- rabbits pelt and rabbits foot (ethically sourced)

- feathers (ethically sourced)

- bones (ethically sourced)

- animal blood (ethically sourced such as: from packaged meat products)

- wear her associated colours (yellow, white, green, red, pink and light blue)

- use colour magick when getting ready (this is the act of wearing coloured clothes associated with what you want out of the day, ie: red = confidence)

- use glamour magick! (This can be done by drawing sigils on the bottom of perfume bottles or drawing sigil and runes with your primer or foundation etc)

- offer her affiliated plants: Almond, Arnica, Bedstraw, Benzoin, Bird Berry, Clover, Cypress, English Daisy, Hemp, Henbane, Holly, Mistletoe, Mugwort, Opium Poppy, Primrose, Rose, and Strawberry

- her associated scents/oils/incense: sandalwood, Myrrh, birch, rose, cedar and cypress

- food offerings such as apples, barley, bread, edible flowers, honey, fresh fruit, chocolate and pork

- drink offerings such as ale and mead

- write or find love poems and read them to her

- adopt or foster cats

- feed stray cats

- involve her in your witchcraft practices (if you practice)

- S3x/s3x magic as an offering

- wear jewellery (particularly in gold if you can)

- listen to girl boss music

- pour your heart into singing, scream them if you want

- listen to love songs

- dance like nobody is watching!

- dedicate a form of divination to her

- study runes and use them to commune with her

- embrace your feminine side, it is powerful (even if you are masculine presenting/identifying)

- learn the phases of the moon

- grow flowers for the bees!

- dedicate Fridays, especially Friday the 13ths to her! (13 is a sacred number to her)

- set a place for her at the table or burn her candle while you eat

- support pregnant people and pregnant animals

- support victims of SA or DV

- create a self love spell and use it as an aid to work of self love

- honour the dead

- graveyard dirt (ethically sourced)

- research! Go to school, study a new topic, learn more about your favourite things!

Rabbit or Bird scissors: For cutting ties, creation, protection and giving you the gifts of the animal that is on the scissors.

Dice: so you may do fast divination, tell stories, and never fall prey to a entities enchanted dice in a foul challange.

Playing cards: divination for those that don't wish to dirty their tarot and for a good game of course.

Skeleton key: for unlocking unseen doors

One acorn: making a trade of course or paying a toll.

Your lucky coin: for luck of course

Thimble: for trade, a act of affection or a gift.

Spool of red thread: ward off the wicked and help you never lose your way.

One hazel nut: rub it for wisdom when needed

A silver or iron needle: for stitching up your clothes if they get ripped or for making a pendulum with a string.

Pendulum: { though a needls on the thread can make a pendulum } for guiding your way and asking the spirits for help.

Clear quartz: ward off evil and for manifesting.

Three pumpkin seeds: for protection, granting wishes, and calling upon pumpkin headed Jack.

Bird seed, honey or a flower/flower seeds if possible: befriend the birds and bees, they know everything and make for good allies.

Your name written down: some things may wish to take your name or make you forget it, have your name written down so you don't forget.

A small notebook and pen/pencil: writing down all you see, feel and the things you must know. You must never be without these.

A stone or wood piece with a hole in it: for seeing the things for what they truly are.

They always gave us an orange, bread and cheese or jam in case we came across some hungry mouth though the hungry mouths were mostly our own..

Offerings don't need to be something new and shiny, placed on an altar as a physical reminder of devotion. I know a lot of us, myself included, are drawn to tangible items that we can use in our practice, especially with the influences of new age marketing and just... capitalism as a whole... But as nice as they are, those items do not define our devotion.

Offerings could be quiet, words of thanks whispered under the breath or only spoken in our minds. It could be song, even the kind that's belted out during car rides or while cleaning.

Even the act of cleaning or maintenance could be an offering. This could be on ourselves, where we cut ties with negative people or work on our own betterment. Remembering to take medication, drink water, eat regularly, or any form of physical activity could all be acts of devotion.

You could make offerings of your lowest points as well, where you can offer up your anger or grief or fears. Sharing any emotions with your deities could be powerful offerings.

When it comes to altars, they could be as simple as extra place settings at a table or a designated seat in living room. As someone who loves pocket altars, a small collection of tiny knickknacks that remind me of my deities has served me well.

What I mean by this rant is that your devotion does not need to be a show all day every day. You have no reason to feel as though you're a poor devotee if you lack the offerings or altars that others do.

Hey pals! So today we are talking about bonding with deities, constructing that relationship with this superior powerful entity and surprisingly is not that hard. I think most, or at least me, at first were super scared of our deities or just were controlled by this fear of “you’re going to fuck up and the deity will kill you so be extremely careful ok”.

And yes, when working with deities or entities you can’t just say whatever, but even if you mess up, they won’t kill you… Like maybe a little punish but not till the point of making you go plop.

Anyways, in my personal opinion and experience, bonding is just doing things for them and trying to interact with the deity. I don’t think that for being close to a deity you have to talk daily, you just have to think about them and do things for them!

Example? I can’t talk with Apollo daily, i cant weekly either. I live in a home in which witchcraft and hellenism is seen like the worst thing to do, they are all really closed and i just don’t have the space or the alone time to get in meditation mode or to do divination. At first i thought this would affect my relationship with lord Apollo, I thought we were never going to be close, i would stay just as a follower and thats it. 

But deity worship/work doesn’t work like that. 

I started doing small things like having a notebook in which i wrote letters to him, playing the violin in honor to him, bought this cheap small sun necklace that remind me of him, made a pinterest board as an altar, every time i went out just said a little “Hi lord Apollo” and i can assure you that we are close. 

The feeling of being truly alive while giving a performance, the feeling of community and belonging in the theater, the feeling of going absolutely apeshit to your favorite music, the feeling of laughing and dancing and singing around a bonfire, the chaotic urge to be wild and free. Tough talking adolescent rebellion. The elegance of wine and the celebration of feast. The freedom of hedonism. The self love in pleasure and indulgence. The destruction of gender norms. The pursuit of a life free from societal expectations and standards. The mischievous thrill of deceit and acting. That androgynous model, your genderfluid friend, your pride in how you present, that feeling of being content and at ease with who you are. That’s Dionysus.

That feeling of making coffee while the sunrise shines through the window, that first morning stretch, that feeling of the sun’s warmth on a warm spring day. That feeling of unwinding by playing your favorite music and dancing, that creative spark, that passion for all things beautiful. That warm kind of happy. That loving feeling of taking care of your own health. That friend that brings you soup when you’re sick. That boy who’s proud of who he loves. That pretty young blonde guy you saw once in public and couldn’t help but admire. The strum of an acoustic guitar. The butterflies in your stomach when you see your crush. That’s Apollo.

The feeling of laughing till you cant breathe and your sides hurt, the sound of your genuine laugh, the thrill of mischief and theft. Starry-eyed excitement. Genuine grins. Your most loyal friends. Gossiping and snickering with your friends. Trying something new. The thrill of travel. Passion for learning about culture and languages. Devotion to your craft. Thats Hermes.

Self care and self love. Looking in the mirror and thinking "Damn Im hot as fuck". Pampering yourself. Loving your natural body. Standing up for women in need. Defending strangers at bars. That woman who helped you make it home safely. That woman who watched your drink for you. That woman who told off some man to defend a girl she didnt even know. The respect and honoring of wild animals. Caring for farm animals. Time spent walking or sitting in the forest. Appreciation of nature and wilderness.
