Bucky Barks

Today is the 6th anniversary of Bucky being rescued from certain euthanasia. A friend I'd met through a local pit bull walking group fostered him until she needed to move out of state at which point (later on in November) there were calls for an emergency foster. I contacted the rescue group and that part is history.

Today is also my angel dog, Gibbs' birthday. Today would be his 11th. He left us a year before Bucky was rescued. With the date coincidence, I believe Bucky was sent by Gibbys to comfort his momma.

When I feel sad about missing Gibbs on his birthday, I can find comfort in the gift of a friend and a bigger than life doggo.

Peggy Snorter reporting for duty.

My gear is ready.

I've been testing the skills and patience of my new teammate. He's not that sinister. In fact, I've had him in his place at least three times in the past few hours.

When you are outmatched you have to use significant, different skills in order to come out ahead.

Mission report January 28, 2021

Peggy is a wildcard. I think we are making strides toward any kind of teamwork and she veers another direction entirely.

There are community areas within the compound, anyone who makes it through the outer gates might access these common areas.

One of those is the sofa. All are welcome. Except the new recruit seems to think that allows for subterfuge. She secrets prized paraphernalia in every corner, then posturing between me and her contraband. I have zero interest in her contraband. She is getting between me and my primary handler when she does this.

This is how she views handler's emphatic order "don't you dare". She views the order as a mere suggestion. Something about knowing one's value.

Mission report: January 26, 2021

This pestilence 'our' handlers keep calling my sister, Peggy (it's piggy, can't you hear the snorting?), has spent the past 24 hours (on top of 0 dark 30 regeneration hours) getting in my space.

I showed her.

Mom, I mean my primary handler, put her tac gear on her, so I edged in to suit up too. I'm wearing Cap's harness, it fits physically, but the cut and scent of it still carry his essence.

I conquered primary handler and then Piggy, I mean Peggy 🐷 nestled in against her foot.

I sure miss Cap's easy-going nature, this child is a nuisance. She did come with some pretty stinky yet delicious treats. Even if she is obsessed with hiding her bones from me.
