god, man. i cannot get into the mindset of someone who ships a rapist with his victim, to be honest. i can't even comprehend what's going on in the mind of someone who ships the two of them! it's a ship i block people over, so i try to avoid those corners as much as i possibly can

i do think, at the very most, it's possible that jimmy could've been on friendly terms with anya before he ended up seriously hurting her, because often abusers are best at worming their way into victims' lives and lowering their guards. from some perspective i can see why that's something someone might want to explore, but i don't think it's romantic on either part's side. it's possible that jimmy could've been an acquaintance of anya's in the past and seriously betrayed her trust, but nothing about it screams "ship material" to me in any way.

jimmy's blatant hatred and disrespect for anya, coupled by his refusal to acknowledge her humanity (envisioning cartoon horses, womb monstrosities, and various other horrors in her place during the nightmare/hallucination sequences where he's clearly guilty over curly and daisuke but never, ever anya) makes his character particularly repulsive to me. he isn't even capable of respecting her on the same level as a human (man), much less loving her

i don't think her and curly have any romantic chemistry. he is her boss. she doesn't even refer to him on a first name basis most of the time, simply calling him "captain" until she's attempting to appeal to his humanity before jimmy crashes the ship. and in my opinion, at best, her and curly are just regular friends with a professional relationship

also when anya says that she knows curly wouldn't give her the gun to protect herself, he doesn't even dispute that! he not only does nothing to protect her, but he actively protects her abuser and thinks that jimmy can just ~move on and get through it~ after what he did to her. i dont think that spells romance between a captain and his employee... ☹️
