We often talk about wanting to meet people who make us feel safe, who are kind, who we can be vulnerable with and relate to. But are we putting the effort to meet new people? Are you the type of person who makes someone feel safe, like they can open up to you? Are you being kind? Are you really non judging someone by a first impression? Are you reaching out to the right people? Will you be able to put your walls down when you meet them? Because some people won't tear your walls down like they do in the movies, they won't put all the effort in a relationship when you can't seem to open up to them, to let the in.
Some people will see your walls for what they are: a way to shut people out and push the away, and they won't feel confident or comfortable enough to insist on tearing them down, because they are just as insecure as you are. If you keep shutting people off, most of them will get the message as just that and stay away. They won't know how bad you want them to stick around if you don't show it. You can't give people breadcrumbs and expect them to stay, just as you don't want to stay around people who don't want to let you in.
We are all searching for healthy connections, but make sure you can invest in your relationships just as much as someone else does. It's hard, but it's worth it, and it gets better with practice. Practicing vulnerability and communication is what will help you in relationships in the long run. No one deserves to survive alone.

love yourself despite it all. love yourself even when you said the wrong thing. when you messed up in class. when you got a grade you didnât like. when you havenât been outside in a week. accept yourself in spite of it all. accept yourself even if you didnât get into the university you wanted. when you broke up with someone you thought you would stay with forever. when the guilt is eating you alive. when you feel like you canât take it anymore. you are already whole, you are enough.
Tonight, letâs hold off the desire to stay online or binge-watching series or reading all night long. Indulge in your hobbies, but donât let this turn into a habit of sleepless nights. Lost sleep canât be recovered by over-sleeping the next night. This behavior is self-sabotage in the end. Ask yourself what are you avoiding by not going to bed? Or are you staying up so late because your day job is so demanding you only have time for your hobbies late at night? Do you have insomnia, do you need a doctor? Allow yourself to melt into your sheets earlier tonight. Your body and mind will thank you in the morning. And whatever it is that keeps you awake, try working on it. Rest is one of the things you canât live without, no matter how much you delay it. Behaviors like this become habits that are hard to change and that will leave you ultimately burned out and sick. Go to bed earlier. Take that nap. Rest your shoulders and your back. Let your mind drift off somewhere it doesnât have to constantly worry. Have a restful night of sleep. đż

expressing love by giving them the bigger half. learning about a topic theyâre interested in so they have someone to discuss it with. listening to their music and making them playlists to connect with them. remembering the little details they mention in conversations. little actions that show so much love.
Most important lesson I learned in the past year is, donât let anyone turn you cruel. No matter how badly you wanna give the world a taste of its own bitter medicine. Itâs never worth losing yourself over.
