After taking a walk around the wing with her IV, she was more than capable of getting herself back into bed to drown herself in more reading and news media, since that’s all there was to do around here while they waited for the vampire blood to leave her system and for her strength to get back up. Once she’s stopped to pull her sheets back, she heard the slightest movement. She looked around, cautiously. “Corey…?” she asked, just to be certain.

after a second he made himself visible, stepping away from the wall and closer to lydia.  “sorry!  i was gonna visit and like, bring you food, but the lady at the welcome desk was super mean,”  stop rambling.  “and the food here sucks and — sorry.  hi.  how are you feeling?”  note to future corey:  sneak food in with you.

“I thought I was the only Hufflepuff in a town full of Gryfindoors and Slytherins.” Of course drunk Penny had managed to strike up a conversation with a stranger about Harry Potter. It was a skill unlike any other she possessed.

corey didn’t really know what he was supposed to be looking for.  clues to where the kidnapped had gone?  some ridiculous monster with a mask that revealed it was the mayor all along?  this was like the worst episode of scooby-doo.  at this point he’d taken to just meandering around the party unless mason said he’d found something.  “am i that obviously a hufflepuff?”  was that an insult?  he wasn’t sure.  “i feel like i could really use a ravenclaw right now.”

Looking up at Corey he laughed, though there was no humor behind it. “I died.” He said, teeth grit as he looked down, the tears falling. “I died and…it’s what I deserved, everything I did, I remember it all. But it’s..that wasn’t me, that wasn’t who I..who I used to be. But I became that person after..” 

After Nolan had dragged him to talk to Monroe, told him she could help.

“I died and I should have stayed dead, I’ll go back to being dead soon, you don’t have to worry about me.” 

He didn’t know how, he didn’t want to..kill himself, but he was sure whatever supernatural bullshit had brought him back would decide to put him back soon. Or maybe this was his hell, to relive and talk to every person he had ever hurt.

part of corey wanted to just let gabe go, leave him to his own devices and never see him again.  it was what the hunter deserved, right?  after everything monroe and him and nolan and all the others put them through, fair was fair.  but he hesitated.  the chimera pack had done some shit too.  corey wasn’t entirely innocent either.  and gabe definitely didn’t look like the murderous type right now.  “gabe.  hey.”  he said, reaching out to grab gabe’s arm, stop him from going.  stupid mason and stupid scott giving corey a stupid conscience.  “it’s . . . ”  okay?  not hardly.  the guy had just crawled up out of the dirt, apparently.  he swallowed the lump in his throat, ignoring the alarms in his brain telling him to run.  “it’s alright.  you’re alive now.”  corey knew a little bit about coming back from the dead himself.  “that’s what matters.”

i got a couple at the store the other day but i give full custody of them to mason.  he shouldn’t want me going anywhere near them.

Out of all the things Gabe might want right now, this wasn’t one of them, he kept running into people he knew, people he’d hurt. When Corey approached him he flinched back, “I…I don’t know.” He said quickly as his voice began to tremble. “I’m sorry, I’ll leave. I’ll go home.”

he nearly apologized, immediately giving in to his passive nature, but he stood his ground.  undead or not, gabe didn’t care about his wellbeing.  but corey wasn’t blind, he could see the way the other boy shrunk in on himself, was nearly shaking like a chihuahua.  “hey,”  he said, trying to connect but falling short.  corey couldn’t decide if he felt sadness or pity.  “what happened to you?”  he didn’t understand what was happening, who this gabe was.  maybe it wasn’t smart to stick around and find out, but he’d split up with his impulse control to cover more ground.

Mason looked over at Corey, smiling at his boyfriends question. He ducked his head and nodded, “Yeah, yeah I’ll save you a dance. Maybe even a kiss.”

“can’t wait.”  there was a second where it felt right, so normal that he almost mistook their surroundings for campus.  like they were taking a cute little late-night stroll to kill time until one of their roommates had vacated the dorm.  but then he remembered where they were, and what was going on, and he barely held his smile.  fuck.  corey cleared his throat.  “so.  what should we even be looking for?”
