Sometimes, "coming home" means walking through that familiar door to those familiar smells and sounds that greet you behind it. Sometimes it means crashing on the couch of your best friend when you can't make it home after a long night out. Sometimes, it means finding that one person who understands you and knows you better than anyone else in the entire multiverse. The man you can rely on time and time again, no matter what. That's what Bruce means to Dick. Bruce is a pillar of strength and power in the eyes of everyone else that knows him; a man of his own deep-set morals and virtues that doesn't stop when the situation gets sticky. But to Dick, Bruce is a constant. He is a steady rock in the turbulent river of Dick's life, never wearing down and always there for Dick to rest when everything becomes Too Much. Bruce is that home that hides Dick from the raging hurricane of his own mind, the shelter that keeps him warm and safe, a fire burning gentle in the fireplace so domestically, as of the winds and rain outside weren't eroding and acidic. Bruce is there, hand out, reaching for Dick at every turn. Dick just has to reach back, grasp with shaking fingers. "Come home."
