i'm kinda mad at all the people misconstruing the "Egg Prime Directive" thing. That solely exists so that we don't alienate and isolate people. no one is saying 'we shouldn't help anyone ever' except you, apparently.
the Egg Prime Directive exists so that you don't go up to a random man in a dress and immediately go "hey, have you considered estrogen?" because it might help, but there's a higher chance of turning that person away, or causing them to isolate within themselves for years and years. You don't know someone's life better than THEY do.
even in situations where you think it's clear cut, you might just wind up driving someone further into the closet. i know someone who used to be friends with a lot of plural people, and every time she expressed something about herself, everyone would go "that sounds like plurality", "you sure you're not plural?", "you're totally plural", etc. making jokes about it almost constantly towards her. at the time, she wasn't plural. and even if she might be plural now, she would never admit it, because with how consistently it was put in her face when she wasn't, if she was it would feel like failure. like giving in. instead of a network of people providing resources to help her, she feels like all she'll be treated to is a choir of "i told ya so"s, as if these people knew her better than she knew herself.
if somebody says "sometimes i wish i was a girl", that's different. that person needs support, and help. that person DOES need someone to tell them "you know you can just BE a girl, right? No one is stopping you." The Egg Prime Directive exists so you don't ASSUME that people are eggs when they aren't one, NOT from helping actual eggs get resources and help. There IS a difference. Learn it, or you're you're going to have a LOT of people forced further and further into the closet, either directly BECAUSE of your intervention, or because of your lack thereof.
