What is behind our collective fascination with death-row prisoners’ last meals?
"We found that there is a narrow window where supermassive stars could explode completely instead of becoming a supermassive black hole — no one has ever found this mechanism before" says Ke-Jung Chen, a postdoctoral researcher at UCSC
No this isn’t a cross section of a human brain. Its actually a simulation of what an ancient star death could have looked like. Scientists think that these stars left no remnant behind after they exploded whereas today’s supermassive stars leave behind black holes or neutron stars.

A very short history of death
"The AWARE study aims to objectively assess whether claims of NDEs or OBEs during resuscitation from cardiac arrest correspond with real or hallucinatory events."
Legislation to give terminally ill New Yorkers the choice to end their life under a doctor's care has been introduced in Albany.
More and more people are choosing to die at home, assisted by pain management and support programs.
To write a truly comprehensive account of what it’s like to live in the long shadow of a family member’s suicide would be to write a book either brutally sad or brutally boring. Far from being a form of therapy, the work of making a readable story of such an experience invites the need for therapy, as you stare at a blank screen, day after day, trying to make your life come alive in language for a potential audience of strangers whose first impulse, you’ve been trained to assume, will be to recoil in horror at the first mention of self-murder.

I never met my grandmother. Her name was Len and she died before I was born. It had something to do with smoking.
The gates are chained, the barbed-wire fencing stands, An iron authority against the snow, And this grey monument to common sense Resists the weather. Fears of idle hands, Of protest, men in league, and of the slow Corrosion of their minds, still charge this fence. Beyond, through broken windows one can see Where the great presses paused between their strokes And thus remain, in air suspended, caught In the sure margin of eternity. The cast-iron wheels have stopped; one counts the spokes Which movement blurred, the struts inertia fought, And estimates the loss of human power, Experienced and slow, the loss of years, The gradual decay of dignity. Men lived within these foundries, hour by hour; Nothing they forged outlived the rusted gears Which might have served to grind their eulogy.
