Normally Brooklyn would not be so nice but she didnt feel like getting in trouble. She just wanted ice cream damnit! She gave a shrug. “Yeah, I guess I can do that.” She turned back to the cashier person and ordered the neopolitian. She paid and stepped aside so the other woman can order. She bit on a thumb nail as she waited. “Dont you have better things to do than get ice cream? I mean I’m sure you can get one of your minions to get it for you.” There goes her mouth again.

Antonia smiled at the girl’s question. “Most likely, and when I’m busy, I do sometimes ask my assistant for help with errands.” Although, that would have to end in short order, as she would be losing her assistant’s services. Still, in all likeliness, she would be able to find someone else who could suit the job eventually. “However, when I am less busy, there’s no reason why I can’t run a simple errand on my own. Same as you or anyone else, Miss Dane.”

Brooklyn watched in awe as he iced the ice cream himself. “Impressive! You can basically make your own ice cream or something.” She said with a laugh. “I wouldn’t be salty if there wasn’t so many flavors.” She countered as she stuck out her tongue. “Gummy bears! Who doesn’t like gummy bears on their ice cream.”

Brooklyn turned and her hands dropped and she pasted a bright smile on her face. God, the assistant director of all people. “Hello, Ms. Wilds. A surprise to see you.” She said as she rubbed her arm. “That’s what I was thinking too.” She said with a shrug. Her brow lifted, “well, I want something sweet obviously but I cant decide what flavor.” She raised her hands in defeat.

Antonia was surprised that Miss Dane was as friendly as she was. Sure, it was most likely a false friendliness, but it was more than Antonia would expect from her. “Ah, that is the challenge.” She considered the options for a moment, wondering if she knew anything about the girl’s likes and dislikes. She rarely did, if she was being honest with herself. “Perhaps…Neopolitan,” she suggested. “It offers variety.”

Brooklyn snorted out a laugh. Smart guy. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” She said with a shrug. She laid out onto her back and floated for a bit. She almost missed his question. She lifted her head and smiled. “Well, I do love purple. But, I am more fond of the color blue.” She said as she straightened up. She moved over to him. She studied his face and found he was good looking not in pretty boy status but definitely in rugged. “What about you? Mister guard. What’s your favorite color?”

It was easier to talk about the tiny things that don’t matter than it would be to talk about… just about anything else. Roman waded out until he was submerged up to his chest, his weight supported by the water rather than himself, and sort of leaned back rather than standing straight up. “I don’t know,” he replied. “Maybe green; it’s a good color.” He leaned even further, allowing himself to float, shivering until his skin got used to the lake water. “What else,” he mused aloud. And then he grinned. “Favorite ice cream flavor?”

Brooklyn treaded water as she watched him. Something about him just made things fun. Even though he didn’t look like a fun person. Her brows lifted, “Are you saying I’m not attractive enough to see naked?” She teased as she splashed him and started swimming away, towards the shore and pulled her shoes off and tossed them onto the shore.

Roman rolled his eyes. “I didn’t say anything that could be interpreted that way, and I’m not here for you to fish compliments out of,” he said. “You’ll have to go bother your friends for that.” He still sounded amused, even if he wasn’t interested in playing into her hand of having him tell her how attractive she was: he doubted someone as –frankly– hot as she was didn’t have at least an inkling of an idea. Roman followed her closer to the shore and pried his now-soaked boots off of his feet, feeling like ten-pound weights had just been lifted off of his ankles. With a slight lull in the conversation, Roman tossed out one of those standard get-to-know-a-person questions. “So, tell me something that wouldn’t be in your file,” he said. “Your favorite color, or whatever?”

She giggled when he “fell” and giggled louder when he splattered her with water from his hair. She scrunched her nose. “I guess I can’t blame you. Sugar is an addiction I have a problem with as well. I’m pretty sure India wants to do an intervention.” She ran a hand through her wet hair as she watched him. “So I can strip and it wont bother you?” She asked with a straight face. She was challenging him to get a reaction.

Common sense told him that, in all likelihood, Brooklyn was trying to get a rise out of him. She’d been giggling, and now she was straight-faced, and while she was looking straight at him, there really wasn’t that look of… we’re strangers and we should be strangers without clothes in the lake. So, he answered honestly. “I’d really rather you didn’t,” he said. “But I’m not on the clock, so I won’t stop you.” 

Brooklyn was not usually this easy going especially with some guy she met like ten minutes ago. But the fact she felt comfortable enough to fool around like this spoke volumes. She shoved again and was a bit miffed that it didnt phase him. “So you’re a gamer who is a workaholic. Sounds fun.” She teased as she made a face at him. “I work and harass my roommates and best friend. I love fashion and dancing.” She said with a shrug of a shoulder. “Oh and having mini food fights with cuties and ending up in the lake full clothed. Normally, I like not swimming in my clothes.”

She appeared to want a reaction out of him, so Roman conveniently ‘slipped’ on a pebble when she shoved him, and sunk into the water for a second. When he came back up, he made sure that in shaking his hair out, he splattered Brooklyn with lake water. “I’m a gamer workaholic,” he confirmed. “Mostly workaholic. And don’t forget the sweet tooth. Pretty sure I run on sugar.” Thank god for good genetics, because if his metabolism couldn’t keep up with his sugar addiction, he’d have been in deep trouble. She described herself, and he could see all of those things. Even though she was now soaked, and he could still see some colorful splotches from the ice cream, she had been dressed fashionably. …Or, as fashionably as he would notice. It looked nice and like it had taken effort. “Yeah, well. It’s not even the first date. Figured clothing wasn’t optional,” he replied off-hand, his tone light and clear that he wasn’t asking for it to go any further.
