Hope you are too π oh well the first time I watched Oz i was obsessed with Beecher and Keller's dynamic, maybe also because i was already a fan of chris meloni (i've been a huge fan of law & order svu i basically grew up watching the show and i'm not even american haha but my mom loved it and i watched it with her often). I think they have amazing chemistry and I like that the actors are also close irl. Idk if you've seen the pics they post when they do Oz reunions (like once a year i think?). And speaking of svu i don't know if you watch the show but the actor of Beecher guest starred in an episode a long time ago when Chris was still in the show and there was a scene where it looks like they're going to kiss (they totally did it on purpose) and in the bloopers they actually kiss LMAO. I love when you can tell the actors are genuinely friends :)Β
And I agree with what you said, I love that this show is so bold and I think it was also ahead of its time maybe. Just speaking about it makes me want to rewatch it too! So many interesting storylines. Beecher and Shillinger's dynamic is insane omg I'll always be scared of him π and yeah some of the episodes are heavy but the writing is sooo good. They really don't make shows like this anymore!

I should have mentioned it in my first answer, but totally get why someone would love the Keller/Beecher dynamic.
My friend who I was watching it at the time had actually first heard of the show when she stumbled upon clips of them in high school and even then, she was still enamored by the back and forth of it all. I mean, when Keller and Schillinger join forces together?
Delicious, immaculate, please never love in a normal way, it would freak me out.
Sigh, to go on YouTube as a young woman and watch some All About Strength Video about nothing but men being hot and sometimes acting on it
My god, I will say the weirdest part of watching Oz was seeing all the faces that are now a bit more established when they weren't. I had to frequently remind myself that Keller was not Stabler because that's how I've always known Chris Meloni hahaha
Oh I love that they still seem close! For my own sanity, I've had to stop engaging with things outside of their immediate form, but back when I watched Oz, I was still very much in my "I need to know everything I possibly can about this show" headspace, and I remember seeing pictures of Tom Fontana with Beecher, Keller, and O'Reily and it was so weirdly sentimental to me hahaha
I agree, I also think it was ahead of its time! I say it all the time, and maybe I'm dead wrong, but I feel like without Oz, we wouldn't have The Sopranos, The Wire, even Breaking Bad. I still can't get over just how dark the show would get, not just with the prisoners, but the guards getting involved too. I haven't! I'm kind of a stickler when it comes to how a story ends, I just finished Sex and the City and don't plan to watch either movie as far as I'm concerned everyone got their happily ever after lmao, but do you think it's worth it? O'Reily was one of my favorite characters so I'm, sadly, willing to put up with things I don't do for him hahaha
