MUNAL (The National Museum of Art, Mexico)

To whoever corresponds;

I’m writing for the job announced on the public function secretariat of Mexico, I’d love to be part of the art and culture management in one of the most beautiful museums in Mexico. I believe I have the energy, aptitudes and character to be a great member of the team.

As part of the qualities I own, the social treatment and the variety of languages I’m able to speak are the most required in the announcement I saw, so I´d love to have the opportunity to demonstrate them happily.

The rain was pouring and every lightning echoed.

I got in the bus, all wet, but even though there were dark dripping clouds, I thought that my tears had made that mess. I felt heavy and my head was messy; loud.

What did she meant? Was that really my fault? What if she said something different and I was the one who didn’t comprehend?  

No. I couldn’t be wrong a second time.

Let´s talk about sexism in the music industry.

Reports examining the gender and ethnicity of creators across 800 US singles chart hits from 2012 to 2019 showed that just 21.7% of artists were women.

And in 2018, Statista showed that the share for producers in the music industry in the United States was dominated by men by 97.7% and women 2.3%.

What can we do then? Research and support.

As consumers our job is to avoid the big mainstream companies that either exploit or hyper sexualize the artists they work with.

Karen Galicia, underrated feminist artist?

You probably haven´t heard of her yet.

This young talented musician has around 9,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and let´s say she deserves way more. 

Her latest release: “Fuega” in collaboration with Alaíde and Hieva talk about female empowerment. They seek to leave an impact on the energy an thoughts of the women who listen to it.

This song invites you to know more about yourself, embrace it and love it; media has taught us to be hard on ourselves but little by little, we can outgrow that concept and become better human beings.
