Talent that knows no impossibilities
A big voice in her own right, Jessica Sanchez will be back to perform with an edgier look and a sound that is entirely her own. Catch up with the powerhouse voice on 10 November in her self-entitled concert “Jessica Sanchez with special guest Martin Nievera” happening at The Theatre at Solaire.
Her upcoming concert will show her evolution and versatility as an artist with songs that are deemed as Filipino favorites such as “I Will Always Love You,” “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” and “I Have Nothing,” which are coincidentally, among her Idol performance repertoire.

I have found the one in whom my soul delights
in Philippine folklore, Oryol was a beautiful naga with a hypnotic voice. She was the one who commanded vicious mermaids called the Magindara. She was also said to protect the land of Ibalong where monsters and beasts lived peacefully.
1 Question: was I right in feeling uncomfortable? So I was talking to a coworker of mine (were kinda close), who is a Black woman, and I mentioned that it’s Filipino American History month. And her reply was, “Y’all get more days than us, huh?” But that’s it, that’s all her reply. I laughed out of impulse and sorta gave her the sympathetic “ikr it’s fucked up” agreement nod because it is... I definitely understood and empathize with her qualms but I kind of questioned her reply. (Cont).
4 (cont. )like, cant I also celebrate a month for Asians without non Asians guilting me? Idk … I feel bad often as if I’m some privileged Asian? When I’m not, I earn minimum wage. Like? I felt weird with her reply, like she was trying to point out my Mythical Asian privilege? I get more days to celebrate? Like?
Of course, you’re right in feeling uncomfortable because she’s ignorant about the month. October was chosen for Fil-Am History Month because it was the month that the very first Filipino folks landed in the US in 1587. It’s not about having more days, October just happens to have more days than February. Not only that, most people don’t even know about Fil-Am History Month nor do they give a rat’s ass about it AND it’s shared with LGBT History Month. People are so ungrateful and ignorant.

Trump Wanted to Ban Students from China in U.S.
The Trump administration seriously considered banning all students from China from studying in the United States, reports Fortune.
Politico reported in August that Trump told a group of business executives that “almost every student that comes over to this country is a spy.”
Two Republican-sponsored bills currently being considered in the House and Senate are aimed at Chinese students, which its sponsors, Rep Francis Rooney (R-Fl) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), consider potential spies.
(((The anti-Native shit Rowling pulled was the appropriation and complete bastardization of skinwalkers. She also appropriated and bastardized the concepts of several Native mythos for her Ilvermorney houses while Ilvermorney was founded by some random white witch.))) I am so ready for Rowling to, at the very least, STOP fucking writing.
Same and thank you very much for clarifying on the Native issues!

Honestly I'm just mindblown at how JK Rowling managed to achieve such a multilayered cultural fuck up with this whole Nagini retcon and casting. It's horrifically impressive, but not surprising of a white woman who is stuck in her colonialist mindset.
Yeah, I think she’s been writing a lot of racist things in her books. I remember not that long ago, Native folks were calling her out on something. I can’t remember what it was but this is definitely not the first and last. Doesn’t seem like she learns or even wants to.

I would respect JK Rowling so much more if she just came out and said yeah the Harry Potter books don’t have enough representation, thats a problem and I’ll do better in future rather than being like oh actually Voldemort’s mum’s cat was gay.Â
Being pro-black does NOT mean you are required to unconditionally support black people who have done terrible things
