How I De-Stress When Not Working as a Make-up Artist
Some of my followers would of read the news of my pregnancy announcement! if not I am excited to announce I will be a first time Mom this December. Me and myĀ Fiancé are so excited. I have been keepingĀ this a secret of mine the last few months and been concentrating on balancing work life, home life and making sure IĀ stay healthy, fit and de-stressed. I wanted to share my tips on how I de-stress when not being a busy make-up artistā¦
Exercise:
I try and exercise as much as I can when not working to help me reduce stress. Running is a great way to raise levels of the stress hormone, cortisol and I love walking, swimming or doing pregnancy yoga as they are better than an intense session at the gym for me. WhenĀ exercising myĀ NikeĀ Free 4.0 FlyknitsĀ are designed to let my feet move more freely when running and exercising, Ā crafted with a black textile upper that fits around your foot like a sock, the Flyknit helps your muscles to do more work than demanded with usual running shoes!Ā
Reading:
Reading not only acts as a distraction for me, it actively engages my mind! Ā When full attention is given to my favourite book I am reading, my mind doesnāt think about those things that are causing me to stress. I enjoy reading aĀ libraryĀ of make-up books. This way I canĀ refresh my skills,Ā build upon a skill I already have and at the same time feel inspired to get creative with make-up. I have three books I canāt stop reading at the moment. They are;Ā The Art of Male Make-upĀ by David Horne, Mark Bowles & Spob O Brien.Ā Fashions in Make-upĀ by Richard Corson &Ā Making FacesĀ by Kevyn Aucoin.
Sketching:
Doing creativeĀ activityĀ such as make-up mood boards,Ā experimenting with make-up , sketching my Ā ideas orĀ designing my make-up looks on aĀ Karla ChartĀ relieves stress for me, Ā increase feelings of happiness, and helps boost my immune system getting me ready for my next make-up jobs.Ā
Healthy Eating:
Your diet can influence your body emotional and physical. I have cut down on caffeine, sugar, and most certainly not drinkingĀ alcohol at the moment. Some great foods for de-stressing whichĀ are rich in magnesium is porridge with almonds for breakfast, green vegetables, seeds, whole grains and eating plenty of green, red, orange, yellow, purple, and white fruits and vegetablesĀ which ensures that me and my baby are getting a variety of nutrients.Ā
Pampering:
If your skin is under stress you need to change your beauty routine and take time to pamper yourself. To energise your skin during stress, you need to use products which will boost the skin and alleviate the signs of stress, tiredness and ageing. Ensure your skin care products include vitamins A, C and antioxidants. My twoĀ essential skin products at the moment are Perricone MD Chloro Plasma which is an AntiĀ ageing mask forĀ instant radiance & Photo Plasma to keep my skin moisturised and oil free.Ā Thereās nothing better than putting your feet up and pampering yourself with a face mask and facial!Ā
Time with loved ones:
My favourite de-stress of all! I loveĀ Catching up with friends over dinner and shopping. Itās a great way to de-stress. By talking with them and hearing what theyāve been up to and in turn sharing what youāve been doing, gives you sense of being loved and overall feeling of happiness. I always make time with myĀ fiancé regularly,Ā itās a quick way to de-stress, have fun and enjoy the simpler things in life.
Sometimes itās important to work for that pot of gold. But other times itās essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow. ~Douglas Pagels,Ā These Are the Gifts Iād Like to Give to You
