The Trick is Finding the Right One

Peggy looked over at him and she smiled, "Sorry, didn't mean to make you uncomfortable. But why did you and your father both have boats if yo uare afraid of water?"

"Well, then… it’s special because you are." Steve shrugged his shoulders and grinned sheepishly at her. "I mean… I really like the thought of spending time with you. We didn’t do it a lot lately. And… going out for lunch is a start, isn’t it?" He stated.

She smiled as she looked at him and nodded, "It sure it s a good start. Perhaps we can do it more after today." she offered as she put the strap over her shoulder and walked over to him. "Ready to go, soilder?"

"I know I could have died! And I know that death tends to come with any war. But those guys? They didn’t deserve to die, Peggy. I know things were getting better but I can’t just let those guys die if I could help it."

Peggy sighed and she looked at hi. "I know. I know I should just let you do your job. But I need to know if you are thinking straight. I don't need you going in to some situation just because you think you are going to survive every little thing. You need to plan things."

Steve chuckled a bit nervously before he grinned again. “Well, I’ll try.” He pushed his hand through his hair again. “So… if you wanna go there, I’ll be fine. But… what special day are you talking about? Have I missed anything? If I did… I am sorry…” He arched an eyebrow and tilted his head slightly.

Peggy laughed as she looked at him. "It's special because we are going out for lunch." she said as she looked at him. "You never go out to lunch with anyone and well...I don't either besides a group of people, this is something ...special."

Steve sighed in relief, not having noticed that he had held his breath actually, waiting for her reply. “That’s… that’s good. Thank you.” He stammered and a grin spread across his face as he looked at her. “There’s a little diner across the block and… maybe you wanna go there. I heard they have the best burgers around here. Or do you wanna have something more healthy? We could also go… um… to another restaurant and… and… I should stop now, I am rambling.”

Peggy looked at him as he seemed thrilled that she had agreed. She couldn't help but smile when he started to smile. "The diner would be great. We can do something a bit unhealthy today. Since it's a different type of day." she said as she put a hand to his cheek. "Breathe, Steve. I don't need you passing out before we get to the diner." 

"Seriously? Seriously, you don't see how things were starting to get better? I know some would have died, but you can't save everyone. You could have died out there, today!" 

  Steve blushed a little as she talked to him, being that close to him and kissing his cheek. “Um… Peggy?” Steve bit on his lower lip again and cleared his throat. He took a deep breath. “You’re… you’re right and… do you wanna go out with me and grab some lunch?” He asked carefully, not looking away from her.

Peggy smiled as she saw him blush. She was glad there were still some men like him out there in the world. Even with this war going on. "Yes, Steve?" she asked as he said her name. She listened to him ask her out to lunch and she held his gaze and she nodded, "I would love that. Especially since you asked as yourself. And I am quit hungry and need some good company with it." 

Peggy sighed and bit her lower lip as she watched him apologize. She leaned and kissed his cheek softly and she looked at him, "Just trust more in yourself. Stark has women going in and out of his room at all nights on the same nights. you don't want to be like that do you?" she asked with a smile. She patted his chest, "Think of a line that comes from here and you'll be sure to get the right type of girl you want."
