Today has been the craziest day Iāve had in a while. Which is saying something for me, I know. I got recruited into this group of super-powered people. Well, some of them have powers of sorts. Other people in the group either have technology that helps them or theyāre super-spies. The group is called The Avengersā¦still not sure what Iām doing here. Theyāre all interesting people I suppose, I just donāt really feel like I belong here with them. With a so-called God, super-soldier, two super-spies, and a genius billionaire in a high-tech armor set. They all have so much control over who they areā¦theyāre heroes. Iām not.Ā
But, letās see, thereās Steve Rogers. Captain America. Heās alive, somehow, frozen in ice and then de-thawed. Itās so strange to see him, here, in the flesh. I looked up to him so much as a kid. I wanted to be like him. And heās here. And kind of a jerk. (Though, that might have been due to Loki. Iāll write about him later.) Heās sensible at least. Thatās more than I can say for others. I also feel sorry for him. Trapped in another time. Things are so different now. He must feel so out of place.Ā
Thereās also Thor, supposed God of Thunder. Apparently heās an alien of some sort? His brother, Loki, was the villain of the day. And I thought my family had issues. He talks in a sort of Shakespearian/old English kind of speak. He seems to be able to hold his own, even against the other guy. He left after weĀ āsaved the dayā with his brother. Not sure if/when heās coming back.
Thereās Natasha Romanov. She the one who recruited me. Tricked me. Shouldāve known better. She seems to be afraid of the other guy, which is good. Sheāll be wary around me, I think. People should be. But Iām digressing. Sheās pretty smart, all things considered. Which makes sense for a super-spy. Sheās seemed to have warmed up to me a bit during the battle. So thatās good, I guess.
Thereās Clint Barton, a.k.a. Hawkeye. I donāt know too much about him. He was being controlled by Loki for most of the time I was there. Came through for the final battle. His specialty is firing arrows? Which seems like it would be lame, but heās really good at it. Plus, he has high-tech arrows. So heās not just firing pointy sticks at enemies.Ā
Finally, thereās Tony Stark. Genius billionaire who owns several high-tech suits of armor. HisĀ āsuperheroā name is Iron Man. Heāsā¦special. Heās very snarky, not a surprise from the interviews Iāve seen of him. Makes jokes about everything. He seems way too comfortable around me. Tried to see if he could bring the other guy out. He thinks he understands myĀ āconditionā. Heās smart, Iāll give him that. He just doesnāt seem to have a very good survival sense. Heās offered me a place to stay and a lab to use. Iām thinking it over. It would be nicer to not stay at a military-owned facility. Apparently the other guy saved his life. Somehow. Not sure why he would have done that. But, I guess Iāll have to take his word on it. Stark doesnāt seem to be scared of me or the other guy. Which is foolish, of course, butā¦it feels nice. I still donāt think he understands how dangerous I am. But itās nice for someone to not tiptoe around me. To treat me like an actual person.
I donāt think anyone suspects my gender. In my official files it says that IāmĀ male, so I think Iām safe for now. Iām not sure how long Iāll stay on this little team of theirs, but at least I have access to food and shelter. This has gone on for a while so Iāll write more tomorrow.Ā
P.S. We went out for shawarma after the fight. It wasnāt bad. Stark even let me steal some of his food.Ā
