"We'll leave the light on so you don't get lonely!" - Toby leaving the light on for Reece and Steve is like how Beattie leaves the radio on for Maureen and David. (Death Be Not Proud)
Other small things, and a slight plug for Percy's running celebrity guest list (huge props to them!):
As of 05/04/25, Joe Pasquale, Joel Dommett (host of The Masked Singer UK), Jonathan Ross (judge on The Masked Singer UK) and Jason Manford have all appeared as the kidnapped celebrity. This is just funny to me as Joe and Jason are mentioned by name in the show, and The Masked Singer is mentioned as well.
In the 25/10/25 evening show at the New Victoria Theatre in Woking, and at the 05/11/25 show at the New Theatre Oxford, Basil Brush was the kidnapping victim! The show that Len kept getting wrong was Crackerjack, of course mentioned in BCDR.
Mark Gatiss, a fellow member from The League of Gentlemen, was a kidnapped celebrity (much earlier in the run than a lot of us thought he'd be, let's be honest). I am jealous of that audience.
When The Actor Kevin Eldon was the kidnapped celebrity, he caused Reece to start singing the Hokey Cokey, a reference to Henry's consequence of being hypnotised in Zanzibar. I am also very jealous of that audience.
When Denis Lawson was the kidnapped celebrity, the comment Len makes about their job next week was slightly altered to mention the fact that they were stealing a painting from a man who looked very similar to Denis Lawson, a nod to the fact that Denis played Gerald in A Quiet Night In. I was in that audience!
When Elaine Page was the kidnapped celebrity, her and Steve did a small portion of “I Know Him So Well”, sung in Empty Orchestra. (My Empty Orchestra loving heart is overjoyed.)
Several kidnapped celebrities obviously referred to Reece and Steve being in The League of Gentlemen. David Walliams said that he "preferred when they worked with Mark Gatiss, AND JEREMY DYSON!" Also mentioning their TLOG past, Jonathan Ross reportedly praised Mark Gatiss’ “swan-like neck”, while saying that Steve looked like a hedgehog, and Reece was “easily forgettable as a short, bland, fairly handsome guy”. Ironic, as he then forgot to mention Jeremy Dyson.
In the last performance at the Eventim Apollo on 06/01/26, the hostage was Bernie Clifton :)

Pinky and The Brain is the show that's impacted me the most in my life. Something about the little lab mice bent on world domination appealed to me specifically and nearly five years after discovering Animaniacs, I'm proud to say that these two are my favorite characters ever made. Debuting on September 9th, 1995 with episode “Das Mouse” the show ran for three years and 65 episodes. The spin-off is by far my favorite thing to come from the Animanaics franchise. It's consistently hilarious, endearing, creative, emotional, spellbinding, and satisfying beyond belief. And it turns 30 years old today. Wow. I wasn't alive when this came out but 30 years is incredible. The fact that this show still has as many dedicated fans as it does is incredible. The spin-off managed to do the impossible: take a segment from Animaniacs with a basic plot and make it something amazing and far beyond the reach of the original show. It introduces new characters and develops the old ones so well that these versions of their characters have stuck around in other shows. The mice are now pop culture icons as a result of this show and they've truly stood the test of time. Without Pinky and The Brain, I wouldn't be who I am today. I wouldn't have a show to write stuff for (by the way new fanfics coming soon) and I wouldn't have characters I could connect to as deeply as I have with these guys. Below is a list of some of the many things I adore about the spin-off and the mice themselves just so I can emphasize how important they are to me:
The relationship between Pinky and Brain is so perfect. They have their flaws but they love each other deeply and can never be apart from each other for too long. PaTB is about taking over the world but as Maurice LaMarche once said it's a show about love.
The show has an amazing message. It's about perseverance and picking yourself back up again after failures. It's about how anyone can be great, even the little guys (which can be applied to many marginalized groups).
They don't make every episode the same. Some are world domination schemes for sure but others involve financing the plan (or formulating the plan) and even ones that don't focus on world domination at all and rather focus on character exploration.
They don't make Brain a villain. They give him sympathetic traits and make his goals for taking over the world to make it a better place. And he's likeable too.
Brain is one of the most relatable characters in cartoon history for me. His determination and constant frustration is something I very much experience in my daily life as a writer. He's also very likable for the most part and never strays too far away from being a morally decent character. Oh and he has an extreme fondness for Pinky that is adorable.
Pinky is MY FAVORITE THING IN EXISTENCE. But in all seriousness he's a big comfort character for me because of his sweetness, how funny he is, and just how pure he is. He's caring for Brain, loves others unconditionally, and always makes sure he's there to support Brain through thick and thin. And he's so cute!
The show isn't just fun-fun silly-will all the time. It can get serious with topics and scenarios like a mid-life crisis (This Old Mouse), self-love (Megalomaniacs Anonymous), a touching Christmas present (A Pinky and The Brain Christmas), sacrifice and a journey to retrieve what's missing (A Pinky and The Brain Halloween), losing everything (Snowball), unsupportive parental figures (The Visit), political corruption (The Pink Candidate), and even the dangers of smoking (Inherit the Wheeze). It tries to keep things interesting for both kids an adults and allows for real emotions in the episodes. It also develops Pinky and Brain as characters and grows their bond together.
BRINKY
The side characters are AWESOME. Snowball is a fantastic villain and a perfect foil for Brain (plus he's funny), Billie is an interesting romantic foil who manages to stand on her own here, Larry is a great one-off character who manages to be funny, and Romy left a massive impact because he's canonically Pinky and Brain's son.
There are so many amazing episodes. I can't list them all here but there are so many goods ones I could spend hours talking about and analyzing.
The music is really good. It doesn't happen often but the musical sequences are very enjoyable.
The pop culture references are funny (but some may require Google to be pulled up when viewing).
The voice acting is very VERY exceptional. Rob and Maurice are at their best here and their delivery as their characters are PERFECT. They are Pinky and Brain and you cannot change my mind (the side cast is excellent too).
This show is very funny. Consistent laugh out loud moments happen in every episode just like in Animaniacs and they don't stop.
The momentum between each season grows. It gets better and better and never once had a dull moment.
The animation is very pleasant and each studio brings their own unique style to the table. Wang has the cutest mice, TMS brought the emotion in the Christmas episode, Akom brought the drama, and Rough Draft kept the characters consistent. They all make the spin-off look great.
The writing is top-notch. Smart, witty, fast-paced, well-timed, and slow when it needs to be. All the makings of exceptional.
The changes to the characters are perfect. Brain becomes softer and more open to character development and Pinky gets more emotional intelligence and stands on his own more from Brain. These changes make Pinky and Brain the best they've ever been
I could go on forever about the spin-off and what it does. It really is that amazing and I'm so happy to be celebrating it today. Pinky and The Brain will forever be one of my favorite shows, hell it might be my favorite. I highly encourage the fans to give it a watch again to relive the magic, especially on such an important anniversary. Cheers to the lab mice for 30 years of laughs, tears, and giddily squealing at cute scenes and I hope they're around for another 30 more. Narf!

hello! as many of you may be aware, i’m starting university this september. as some of you may also be aware, my situation with jobs this year has not been great either. long story short, i am struggling to buy myself basic necessities for uni accommodation and classes.
