one of the weirdest flaws of the cgi alvinnn!!! show is that they’ll have these interesting premises and stories that really get at the heart of a character or conflict and then we just. don’t see it play out. like i get that it’s a kids show that only has eleven minutes to tell a story and 1.5 of those minutes have to be a montage set to a song, but its so bizarre sometimes to sit through an episode that poses a really interesting question and then its followed by pointless filler. like where was simon’s perspective on things and how alvin’s comment made him feel in “oh brother where art thou”?? where was the actual process of simon arriving at that conclusion about perfectionism in “back to basics” instead of just having him walk onscreen to deliver that moral in the last ten seconds?? where was the nuanced discussion between brittany and jeanette about how brittany’s comments can legitimately hurt jeanette, whose only crime is being herself in “my sister the weirdo”?? like how can you have these really great characters with literal decades of development, set up these interesting conflicts, and then say “and now. a two minute bit with cheesy.”
