Since 1992, the month of May has been observed as Huntington's Disease Awareness Month with blues and purples as representative colors. A less infamous but extremely devastating hereditary disease, Huntington's Disease is a neurological disorder that appears as symptoms of ALS, Parkinsons and Alzheimer's at the same time. This May let's remember to appreciate the lives battling and lives lost to HD. Let's also thank our caregivers and communities dedicated to serving our loved ones and making the journey less painful and lonely.Â
HD is a disorder with no cure yet, but significant efforts have been and are being made to solve this. Much can be accomplished with more people being aware of the realities of living with this disease and getting involved with communities and organizations advocating for this cause.
