I’ve seen over and over and over again anons calling out bloggers and accusing them of misogyny when criticizing either B or D. 

There is ABSOLUTELY misogyny built into this whole stunt. Most of the reasons why it works and is of interest to people is based on tried and true mass media storylines that rely on misogyny. 

Recycling old ideas about groupie gold diggers getting knocked up by famous men is misogynistic. Pitting B & D against each other in the media is misogynistic. The sexual objectification aspect of D going topless is misogynistic. The attempt at getting a sex tape spread through the the fanbase as a way to tear B down is misogynistic. Rich, white men using these women as pawns to try and divide the (mostly) female fanbase is misogynistic. Reducing them to “Baby Mama” and “Girlfriend” (ie objects) in relationship to Louis is misogynistic. 

Saying that D has ugly shoes or B has a silly hairstyle is not misogynistic. Saying B is trying to extend her fifteen mins of fame by trolling the fanbase is not misogynistic. Saying that she will do anything to be famous is not misogynistic (it’s a misogynistic system that this is a way in which to become famous). Accusing her of playing the victim by crying invasion of privacy while also trying her hardest to stay relevant is not misogynist. Shouting from the rooftops that D should not give up her day job (acting, promo like conventions & M&Gs) to play girlfriend at Louis’ side is not misogynistic – it’s calling out the misogyny baked into the stunt.   

Louis getting a women pregnant and having that woman disappear from the media because she & Louis actually wanted privacy and safety for their kid is a boring story because there is no story. 

This whole stunt is a story meant to captivate an audience and is therefore based on interesting plotlines that generally make women look bad, because it’s created by men who are looking out for their best interest, not the best interest of the women hired to carry out the stunt. 

i’m not calling briana stupid because she’s a woman (though, of course, there’s the point that she could only be hired for this job because she’s a woman, but that’s something else entirely). i’m calling briana stupid because she is. she’s a fame-hungry club girl who, along with her family, will do anything, up to and including exploiting a hired baby, just for her to receive some headlines. she can’t tell troll fan accounts from her regular ones, she’s embarrassed herself with her lack of knowledge about pregnancy, fashion, and the celebrity world in general, and she hasn’t seemed to piece together that this stunt can only end horribly for her - we all know louis isn’t going to pretend this baby is his forever, so the options are either to have it come out that he’s not the father (in which case she’ll be branded as a gold digger for demanding more money from a celebrity that potentially was the kid’s dad) or a complete expose in which it’s proven she faked the entire thing (and, let’s be real, if simon can use her as a scapegoat to take some of the blame, he will). 

this is absolutely a misogynistic system that we’re seeing put into play: briana and danielle have both been cast into roles defined by men, danielle as the sweet girl next door and briana as the gold digger. that’s misogynistic, yes, but i didn’t create that system. if you’re looking for a place to point fingers, blame the entertainment world’s foundations in woman-hating, or blame syco, modest, etc. for upholding the system.

i think it definitely explains the change in briana’s eye area (it’s subtle but makes a huge difference).
