“What do you mean you’ve never played?” Yelena asked incredulously, staring down the blue eyed super soldier across the way from her.
You watched as Bucky shrugged. “I don’t know, Lena. But I never have.”
“Well, well…” she spoke in a thick Russian accent as she sat back and took a sip of her beer. “We will have to play then.”
“How do you play?” Bucky said, eyeing the rest of the group uneasily.
You smirked from your position to the right of Bucky. You were all sitting in the newly rebuilt compound. It was you, Bucky, Yelena, Sam, Kate, Wanda, and Clint.
“You just say something that you’ve never done and then others take a drink if they did that thing. Your goal is to get other people.” Kate explained from next to Yelena.
“Yeah, and you get the juicy dirt,” Wanda piped up from beside you.
The others laughed and Bucky smirked. You could have sworn that he looked at you at that comment. But surely not.
“So, who’s starting?” Sam asked. “Okay, I’ll go first. Never have I ever… got my ass kicked by a little girl.”
Bucky deadpanned Sam and you giggled. “Sam, I believe that little girl kicked your ass too,” you piped up.
Bucky smiled at you before pointing to Sam. “Exactly!”
“Fine,” Sam groaned, before taking a drink, Bucky following his lead.
“Me next?” Clint spoke up from beside Sam. “Uh, never have I ever missed a shot.”
Groans ensued. You, Wanda, Bucky, and Sam took a drink.
“No fair, arrow man,” You said, narrowing your eyes at Clint.
Clint stuck his tongue out at you and you giggled at his childishness. Bucky eyed the two of you, a question forming in his mind. One that he tried to push away as petty jealousy. Especially since Clint had a wife.
“My turn!” Kate said with a smile. “Never have I ever… fought Thanos.”
“Wow,” you, Bucky, Sam, Wanda, and Clint groaned.
“Cheap shot, Kate,” Clint said, taking a drink, the rest of you following.
“Hey, I did my job,” she shrugged before grinning at Yelena. “Your go, Lena.”
Yelena smirked across the coffee table at Bucky. He stared back, trying to come across as nonchalant as possible. “Never have I ever… had a crush on a teammate.”
Bucky held her stare. It felt like hours passed. Without losing eye contact with Yelena, he takes a drink.
“What?! Who?” Sam said in shock, grabbing his friend's shoulder.
Bucky looked down at his beer. “That’s not the game,” he remarked.
“Oh, bullshit, Barnes,” Sam said. “Why does the Russian know and I don’t?”
“Because I’m his best friend,” Yelena’s thick accent retorted with a grin from across the way.
Sam shot daggers at the blonde before turning back to Bucky. “Come on, man.”
Bucky shrugged and smirked at the man before turning to Yelena. Sam was also his best friend. But it sure was fun to annoy him.
You and Wanda both took a drink. Yelena smirked and looked across the way to Bucky, and his eyes darted down and his ears tinged pink. He did have a crush on you, and with Yelena somehow suggesting that you could ever like him back… just the thought had him riled up.
You blushed as you took a drink, somehow feeling like you admitted your crush on Bucky without ever saying it. Wanda smirked beside you as she knew exactly who your crush was. Despite the fact that she could read your mind, you were quite obvious about it. As was he. How the two of you didn’t see it blew her mind. You would both schedule training for the same times just to be around each other. You would both get flustered so easily around the other. On movie nights, you two always wound up sitting beside each other and sharing a blanket. You were even known to have movie nights of your own, especially once you realized that Bucky had never seen the Twilight movies. You forced him to watch them and he had to admit that it was now a guilty pleasure of his. The two of you were so in love with the other, both too blind to see it.
“Your turn, rookie,” Wanda said from beside you.
“You know, I’m so tired of being called a rookie. I fought Thanos for god’s sake.” You huffed, looking around.
“Okay,” Bucky spoke up. “Go, rookie.”
You smirked at him, knowing exactly what you wanted to say. “Never have I ever… been team Jacob.”
Sam fell out into a cackle, hitting Bucky on the shoulder as he lost it. Clint also snickered, and Yelena just sat with her mouth hung open.
Bucky rolled his eyes before taking a drink. You couldn’t help but laugh at the contagious laughter that filled the room, mainly from Sam.
“Dude!” Sam let out. “I’m not letting this go. This is my favorite day. Thank you, rook. Thank you so much.”
“Don’t call me rook.”
“I’ll call you whatever you want, baby.” Sam said, grinning before looking back over to Bucky. “I love this.”
“I hate this.” Bucky groaned, taking another drink of his beer.
“How on earth can you be team Jacob?” Kate piped up.
“I could see it,” Wanda said. “They were best friends. He cared for her so much.”
You looked up at Wanda, knowing she was talking about more than just some stupid vampire movie franchise. Bucky nodded in your peripheral, making you turn to him.
“Exactly. Jacob isn’t perfect. He made mistakes. But he cared for Bella so much.” Bucky looked over to you as he spoke and you felt like your heart was in your stomach. It seemed like you and Bucky stared at each other for hours.
“Yeah but… Edward though!” Kate interjected, completely oblivious to any possible metaphors going on around the table. Clint and Sam both tuned out.
Yelena smirked at Kate before looking over to Bucky. “That’s an interesting take, Buck.”
Bucky switched his eyes to Yelena. “Just speaking the truth.”
“I know,” she said, softly. She looked down before stealing a glance at you. You were staring at the top of your beer bottle and Yelena’s smile grew. “Bella cared for Jacob too, you know.”
Bucky raised an eyebrow as he gulped. He felt like he knew what his friend was insinuating, but he couldn’t believe that could be true. You were too good to be true. You were the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, not to mention how hot you looked fighting in the field. He loved when you worked together because it just felt like you got exactly what he was thinking before he ever thought it. You always knew his next move. Things just moved so smoothly with the two of you in the field. He also just loved the way he felt when he was around you. He was nervous, sure, but he also felt weirdly homey.
Interrupting the moment and Bucky’s thoughts, Sam piped up from beside Bucky, “Are we seriously talking about fucking Twilight right now?”
“Oh shut up, Wilson,” Clint spoke up. “It’s not that bad.”
Sam’s eyes went wide as did Kate’s as they both turned toward him. “You watched Twilight?!” They both said in unison.
“I have a daughter. What’s the soldier’s excuse?” Clint retorted, turning it back to Bucky.
“I have a rookie,” He said, tipping his beer bottle towards you. This small action along with the lop-sided smirk he gave you resulted in a colony of butterflies to erupt in your stomach. It was something about the way his eyes crinkled when he smiled.
When he smiled at you.
“Your turn, Barnes.” Clint spoke up, moving the game along.
“Okay,” he said, musing for a moment. “Never have I ever… kissed a teammate.”
Yelena’s eyes darted towards you, gauging your answer. You felt her eyes on you and you met her big eyes, but you didn’t drink. Wanda took a sip from beside you, as her’s was obviously Vis. Bucky couldn’t help but smile to himself. Not that he owned you, but he couldn’t deny it made him happy that you hadn’t kissed anyone on the team.
“Lame,” Sam said with a roll of his eyes. “Let’s add a little spice. Never have I ever… choked a partner or been choked. And yes, I mean during sex.”
Bucky shifted uncomfortably, feeling like he couldn’t look at you. However, when he saw you take a drink out of your peripheral vision, his eyes trained on you. You held his gaze as you put the bottle back down. Clint and Wanda both took a sip as well. You gulped watching as Bucky unconsciously licked his lips as he looked at your neck. He couldn’t help himself. No, he had never choked someone during sex, but he wanted to.
“Okay, rookie! Have you choked or been choked?” Sam said, smirking.
You smiled back, “That’s not the game, birdman.”

Bucky shot her a warning glare to which she ignored. He knew she was trying to push him, but he was worried she was doing too much too soon.
She would have laughed at him had she heard that thought.
“My turn!” Kate said. “Never have I ever… wanted to have sex with a teammate.”
Your blood seemed to drain from your face. You, Bucky, Sam, and Wanda took a sip. You were so happy that it wasn’t just you.
“Same person you have a crush on, Buck?” Yelena asked, tilting her head.
“Maybe,” He said.
“Rookie?” Sam asked.
“Maybe,” You agreed.
“Okay, I can’t take this shit anymore,” Clint started. “Are you two blind?”
“Who?” You asked.
“Buckaroo and Rookie!” He said, raising his arms, exasperated. “You too can’t see that you both like each other?!”
You could die right there of embarrassment. “What?” You and Bucky speak at the same time once again, this time utterly dumbfounded.
“You two are idiots.” Yelena agreed.
“Idiots in love,” Clint agreed.
“These two are in love?!” Sam and Kate spoke together, completely missing all the signs.
“Obviously,” Wanda said, nonchalantly.
You nudged her with your elbow, warning her to shush. “I’m right here.” You point out.
“Yeah, no shit, rook.” Clint said. “How about you two kids go talk and the grown-ups will keep playing.”
“Uh, okay,” You say nervously, looking over to Bucky who nods at you before you each get up and head out of the room, down the hall towards your room.
“Well…” Bucky began.
“Well…” You say awkwardly as you open your suite door, allowing Bucky to follow you in.
“Doll, I…” He started again, searching for words. “I guess the cat’s out of the bag, but I, uh, I like you. Like a lot. Like more than just friends.” He rambled on.
You grinned up to him as he stood flustered in front of you. You walked over to him, placing your hands on the sides of his face to steady him. He pauses and locks eyes with you. “I like you too, Bucky.”
“You do?”
“Yes,” You sigh as he wraps his arms around your waist, pulling you closer to him, your nose grazing his.
“Doll,” He breathed against your lips.
“Yes?” You whispered.
“Can I kiss you?”
Instead of giving a verbal answer, you close the small gap between your mouths, attaching your lips to his. His eyebrows go up as he relaxes into the kiss, his grip tightening around your waist as the kiss continually heats up. You run one of your hands through his hair, tugging on the ends as you reach them. You brush your tongue against his bottom lip and he grants you entrance with no hesitation. Your tongues brush against each other, the taste of beer evident on each of you. It was the Fourth of July. It was burning hot, and mosquitos were a dime a dozen. But the smell of hotdogs and burgers on the grill almost made up for it.
Bucky stood before the grill in only his swim trunks and an apron that said “kiss the cook” as he grilled and flipped the hamburgers. The radio was playing 90s top hits, and the neighborhood was buzzing. Kids were running around in the backyard or in the pool, parents nearby watching or in the pool themselves.
It was you and Bucky’s turn to host the annual neighborhood cookout and between planning and the kids, you were beat. You were working on potato salad and fruit kabobs in the kitchen, getting ready to take them out to the picnic table in the backyard as people were arriving. Suddenly, your two kids ran through the living room at an ungodly speed.
“Boys!” You yelled over the commotion. “What did I tell you about running in the house?”
The two boys stopped immediately and gave you big puppy dog eyes. “Not to do it…” they said, slowly in unison.
You raised an eyebrow and bent over to their eye level and picked their chins up to look at you. “So, why are you doing it?”
“Sorry, mommy,” they said.
You stood back up and patted their heads. “Outside, boys. I’ll be out in just a minute.” And just as soon as you said it, they bolted out the door.
You smiled and sighed, looking over the food you had prepared. You were starving, and it looked great. You took the last sip of your beer before throwing it away and took the bowl of potato salad and the tray of fruit kabobs and headed through the sliding glass door into the backyard.
Bucky heard the door open, looked up from the grill, and instantly smiled. His best girl. You were too busy concentrating on not dropping the food to pay him any attention. His eyes trailed down to your thighs, and he was mesmerized as you swayed side to side in that yellow sundress. You turned to set the food down, and your dress went up just slightly; Bucky unconsciously licked his lips as he thought about how pretty you would look bent over that picnic table just for him.
“You gonna flip those burgers or burn em, Barnes?” Sam smirked from beside him.
“Ah, shit,” he said, turning away from you and towards the burgers to flip them.
Sam chuckled and looked back over to you for a second before his eyes flicked back to Bucky. “You guys got the backyard looking nice.” Sam commented, patting Bucky on the shoulder.
“Thanks, man. My girl is beat. Between all this planning and cooking and the kids…” he trailed off.
Sam nodded. “Don’t forget; Sarah put it on last year. It’s a lot, for sure.”
Bucky nodded, pulling the burgers off the grill and into a tin container before adding some more patties to the grill. Bucky glanced back up, and you were gone from the picnic table and off to the side talking to Wanda. He smiled and looked back down to flip the burgers.
“Your girl is looking good for being so tired.” Sam said, nudging him. Bucky looked up and shot Sam a death glare. Sam raised his hands in defense and laughed. “What? I’m just stating the obvious. Not like every other man here didn’t notice.”
“What?” Bucky said, turning his head back to you on instinct.
“Look at Walker, for example,” Sam said, nodding towards John Walker. He was sipping a beer, and his eyes went up and down your figure as you talked with Wanda just a few feet away.
“Walker looks at every woman that moves,” Bucky said, gripping the spatula in his hand tighter. “And maybe even the ones that don’t.”
“Okay. What about Marc?” Sam said, glancing behind him.
Bucky tried to turn without being super obvious, but he failed. He turned around to see Marc Spector in a daze as he glanced past his wife, Layla, to get a glance at you. Bucky gritted his teeth and turned back to the burgers. “Marc has a wife.”
“That he does. And two little kids roaming around here somewhere.” Sam said, nodding. “Look, I’m not saying anything is going to happen. I’m just proving a point.”
“And that point is?” Bucky said, agitated as he pulled the new burgers off the grill into the tin container.
“That your girl is hot.” Sam said, with a shrug. Before Bucky could kill him, he continued, “I mean no disrespect at all, man. You know that I would never do anything to hurt you and neither would anyone here. Except maybe Walker. But that’s besides the point.”
“Still waiting on the point, Wilson,” Bucky said, throwing the spatula down on the table beside the grill in a fit as he looked at Sam agitated.
“That you’re lucky, man. She’s a doll.”
Bucky looked over to you, and you were passing a beer to Loki. As you turned around to walk away with Wanda, he couldn’t help but notice that Loki's eyes wandered south as your dress swayed from side to side.
Bucky was fuming. He knew that he was lucky. He knew how hot, beautiful, pretty, gorgeous, and fine you were. But he just never noticed how the other men from the neighborhood just so obviously were ogling you.
“Hey, Buck. Do you need another beer?” You said, popping up beside him at the grill holding out a cold beer,
He instantly softened. He put his arm around you and pulled you close, despite the heat. “Thank you, doll.” He said, leaning down to kiss you.
“You’re welcome, Bucky.” You said, kissing him back. You expected a quick peck, but Bucky held you closer and kissed you passionately. Not that you minded, but you both usually didn’t show a lot of PDA.
You pulled away and caught your breath. “Woah, tiger. What’s got into you?”
“Nothing. I can’t kiss you?” He said, smirking as his breath hit your face, still dangerously close to you.
“Of course you can,” you said. “But you’re just more affectionate than normal.”
The fluff from his beard grazed your face as he leaned in and kissed you again. He smelled like burgers and sunscreen. It was delicious. He swiped his tongue against your bottom lip and that’s when you pulled away.
“Easy there.” You said, glancing around. “We have people here.”
“Let ‘em watch,” Bucky said, gripping your waist.
“Bucky,” you giggled as you tried to wriggle out of his arms.
He smirked and leaned into your ear, his beard tickling you. “Wanna show every man here who you belong to.” You gulped as you looked around for anyone who could hear him. Sam had wandered off as soon as you walked up. “I would love to bend you over that picnic table and show them, but I can't have them seeing all the parts of you only I get to see.”
You gulped and clenched your thighs together at his words. “Bucky…” you breathed out, but didn't really know what you were going to say.
“Doll, do you even know the effect you have on people? The way all these men look at you?”
“No,” you whispered.
“They eye fuck you every time you aren’t looking. Walker, Marc, Loki… to name a few. You’re just so captivating, they can’t help it.” He whispered into your hair as he glanced around. No one was paying any mind to your two’s embrace.

He pulled back and looked into your eyes. “Doll, do I lie to you?”

“So, why would I start now?” He said, raising an eyebrow.
You looked around glancing at the men in your backyard. Surely they didn’t look at you like that. Half of them have wives of their own. You just couldn’t imagine Loki or Marc eyeing you. Walker you could.
“Come on, doll.” Bucky said, leading you inside.
“But, Bucky,” you protested. “We are the hosts.”
“They will be fine without us,” he whispered. He patted Sam on the back as he passed. “Make sure everyone eats, Wilson. We’ll be back.”
Bucky led you through the glass sliding door and into the kitchen and his lips were immediately on yours as he pushed you toward the island in the middle of the kitchen. You pulled away, glancing through the glass door where you could easily see into the back yard. “Buck,” You said as he kissed down your neck and collarbones.
“Yes ma’am?” He mumbled against your skin.
“They can see,” You said, trying to form coherent words as he sucked on your pulse point, running his hands under your dress and up your thighs.
“Who can see?” He smirked, moving down to your chest and placing sloppy kisses there.

Wanda pulled out her carton of cigarettes, handing each of the boys one. Wanda lit her own cigarette and then the boys leaned into hers to light their own.
The boys sat in the floor across from you ladies on the couch. Everyone began talking and drinking and Yelena and Sharon made their way into the room as well. Steve and Nat were riffing, and you and Wanda were harmonizing with Sharon while Yelena hit a beat on the table. Sam was cheering the group on as Bucky rounded the corner to the green room.

You hanging out with his fucking friends. Bucky thought he was mad before, but he saw red as you laughed with Sharon, Steve, and Sam. How dare you?
“What the fuck is this?” Bucky asked, trying to appear as casual as possible, despite his growing rage.
Everyone’s smile seemed to fall as Bucky’s presence changed the atmosphere of the entire room. Everyone stopped their playing and turned to the dark-haired drummer. “We were just playing around, Buck.” Steve piped up when no one responded.
You couldn’t help but smirk. You knew this was pushing Bucky’s buttons, and you loved it. Did you plan it? No, but you definitely weren’t going to complain. You loved how he was when he got all worked up.
“Well, continue on.” Bucky said, gesturing his hands towards the instruments. “We go on in twenty.”
Everyone began to chat and talk again, and you raised from your seat to head over to where Bucky was standing in the doorway. “Angry, much?”

Everyone planned to leave the bar in Ubers considering everyone’s inebriated state. Tasha ordered an Uber and you all stood outside of Fury’s waiting for the driver to arrive. The bar was beginning to close as people continued to pile out onto the sidewalk outside. You blew smoke out of your nose, raising an eyebrow. “Well?” You said back to them, making them each roll their eyes.

You grinned, looking over to the man in question. He was involved with the conversation at hand and didn’t look at you. “Let’s just say,” You said, turning your eyes back to theirs. “He is definitely not a prude.”

Nat opted to sit in Steve’s lap for more room. You sat in the outer edge so that you could see out of the window, which was of course right next to Bucky.
Your focus was out of the window as you tried not to focus on the tight space. Bucky knew you were claustrophobic, so he was scooted farther over towards Nat and Steve to give you some space in the tight confines of the back row of the vehicle. He was staring straight ahead.
You turned to look at him, but he didn’t look at you. You poked his thigh. “Hey, you alright?”

“Hey, hey. Doll, what is it?” He asks, searching your eyes for answers. Then, it seemed like there was a bell that went off in his mind. “Is this about Brock?” He said in a hushed tone, like it was going to hurt you just to hear the name.
You scrunched your nose. “No. Yes. I don’t know. Bucky, I…”
“We don’t have to talk about it. If you want to go home, or just go sleep in the other room, I’m not going to stop you.” He said, releasing his hold on you.
Bucky knew what you went through with Brock Rumlowe. He didn’t know everything – if he did, he would probably go kill him, along with the rest of your friends – but he knew you were tremendously hurt.
The only person who knew how much you were hurt was Natasha, and we all know that Nat definitely wanted to hunt him down and kill him when she saw how he hurt you.
Because of all this, you had a fear of commitment. You were okay with having something fun or casual, but commitment frightened you.
“Can I stay here? And we not talk about it?” You ask in a small voice.
“Of course, doll. You are always welcome here.”
Your felt a tightness in your chest as you laid back down and looked at Bucky. “What comes next, Bucky?”
He furrows his eyebrows at first, but he finally realizes you mean with you two. “What do you want to happen next?”
“I don’t know,” You breathed out. “I don’t want to lose you. You are one of my best friends.”
He hid it well, but inside he felt his heart fall into his chest. He took a deep breath. “You won’t lose me. We are best friends.”
You nodded fiercely. “Same here.”
“So, we won’t let what happened tonight affect our friendship,” he said.
“Right,” you said as a smile formed on your face. “Pinky promise?” You said, holding up your pinky.
He smiled, despite the twinge of sadness he had inside. He lifted his pinky and locked it with yours. “Pinky promise.”

It was a typical Saturday morning.
You woke up around 9:00 a.m. and made your way out to the kitchen to make coffee and bagels. You sipped on your coffee as you scrolled through your various social medias, waiting for your bagels to pop up from the toaster. You saw that some of your friends went out last night and had posted pictures.
It was Yelena, Nat, Sam, Steve, and finally your roommate and best friend, Bucky. You smiled at the photo as you double tapped your screen making the little heart appear signaling that you liked the photo. They had asked you to go, but you declined. You had wanted to go out with everyone, but you had a late shift at work.
The toasted popped your bagel into the air and you grabbed it and some cream cheese from the fridge. As you took a bite of your bagel, you popped one in for Bucky and began to fix his mug of black coffee. You assumed he would be out of his room shortly as he always was. You began to hum the tune of your favorite song and take another bite of your bagel as you saw Bucky emerging from his room in gym shorts and no shirt.
You couldn’t help the way your eyes skimmed down his figure momentarily before finally looking up to meet his eyes. You tried to ignore the way that your mouth practically watered at the sight of him. “G’morning,” You said, pushing his bagel and coffee mug towards him across the countertop.
“Morning,” He said, but he looked distracted, like he was looking around for something.
He began moving pillows from the couch. “Looking for something, champ?” You asked, peering over your coffee mug.
“Yeah, have you seen my…” He started, but then he finally looked at you. He let out a sigh and said, “I should have known.” He gestured to your attire.
You looked down and realized exactly what he was looking for. You were wearing one of his many hoodies. This one did happen to be one of his favorites, so of course he noticed it was missing right away. You had seen it on the back of the couch last night when you came to get some water and threw it on. While it was Bucky’s favorite hoodie, it was also your favorite hoodie of his to steal borrow. Since it was his favorite, he obviously wore it a lot, and because he wore it a lot, it smelled like him. Because it smelled even more like him, you loved it even more.
You laughed and shrugged, pushing his breakfast towards him again. “I made you coffee and a bagel, though?” You offered.
He smiled at you, making his eyes crinkle at the sides, before pulling up a chair to the counter opposite of you. He took a rather large bite of his bagel, making you laugh at him. He finished chewing and finally said, “Can I ask you something?”
“Of course, Buck.” You said, leaning over the counter. “Anything.”
“Why do you always wear my hoodies?”
You almost choked on your last bite of bagel. “Uh,” You started, trying not to die because of a freaking piece of bread. “I dunno.” You shrugged.
He rolled his eyes as he sipped his coffee. “Do you just enjoy toying with me?”
Your cheeks tinted pink as you sipped your coffee still trying to make sure you weren’t dying. “What?” You asked, finally with a clear throat. Surely, he didn’t mean that the way that your in the gutter brain was taking that.
“Do you just like making me search for them? Are they comfy? What?” He insisted, gesturing to the article of clothing adorning your figure.
You shrugged again, realizing he was not thinking dirty as you were. “It smells like you,” You sheepishly admitted as he stood up to bring his mug and plate to the sink next to you.
You gulped as he looked up and met your eyeline as he washed off his dishes. Those steel blue eyes were the bane of your existence. You were roommates. You were best friends. You shouldn’t have these thoughts. You couldn’t have these thoughts. Because there was no way he felt the same as you did.
He grinned down at you, bumping his hip to yours, once again bringing your attention to his scantily clad form. “Awe, how sweet, bunny.” He said, teasing you. He loved calling you bunny.
You bumped his hip back and scrunched your nose at him. “It just smells like home,” You clarified. “It’s calming.”
His face fell for a fraction of a second. If you blinked, you would miss it.
And you definitely missed it.
“Glad I could calm you, bunny.” He said, putting his dishes on the dish rack to dry. He turned on his heel and began to head to his room. “Do you have any plans today?”
“I plan to watch season 2 of The Home Edit on Netflix.” You said with a shrug. “Wanna join?”
He shrugged. “I don’t know what that is, but sure.”
You went to your room and grabbed your favorite blanket and brought it out to the living room to get cozy on the couch. You pulled up the show and waited for Bucky to come back from his room. You continued scrolling through social media and also texted Yelena to see what she was up to later.
A few minutes later, Bucky returned – to your surprise – still shirtless. He threw himself down on the couch next to you. “Feeling the shirtless look today, Buck?” You said, poking his abs.
He smirked, looking up to you. “Well, someone, also enjoys taking my shirts.”
You rolled your eyes but couldn’t help but grin. “So, you are saying you have no shirts?”
“No clean ones. Wonder where they could be.” He said dramatically as he looked around.
You grabbed a pillow from beside you and hit him in the chest. “Fine, I’ll stop since it bothers you so much.”
He chuckled, “It doesn’t bother me, baby.”
You stilled.
He stopped.
It felt like the two of you were frozen for what felt like an eternity.
“Did you just call me baby?”
“I did.” He said, not making eye contact with you.
“Why?”
“Not sure.”
“Well, there’s gotta be a reason, Bucky.”
“None that I can think of, bunny.”
“See? Why not call me bunny? Like always?”
“I don’t know, bunny.”
You stared at him from your side of the couch until he finally looked at you. Bunny was just the thing he called you. But baby felt different. It was comfortable. It was domestic.
It was different.
“Are we still going to watch the show?” Bucky said in a small voice.
“Yeah,” You whispered back before reaching for the remote and starting the show.
Some time went by. You and Bucky had watched wordlessly from your respected sides of the couch as Clea and Joanna organized the various spaces in the show. This show was usually a calming de-stressor for you, but given Bucky’s recent verbiage towards you, your mind was racing elsewhere as you overthought.
Bucky settled more into the couch, pulling your shared blanket closer into him. You also snuggled in, your head brushing against his shoulder. Suddenly, he moved his arm from the back of the couch to around your cozy form. Taking the hint, you nuzzled your head into the crook of his neck as his hand pulled you tightly to his chest.
Your eyes stayed put on the screen and you tried your best to keep your breathing even. The two of you had cuddled on this very couch many times but given your hidden feelings and what Bucky just called you, it had your head dizzy.
Bucky’s metal thumb was rubbing circles into your hip. Despite the cool metal, your skin felt warm. It was like he could sense your unease, though you hoped that he couldn’t.
You began to rub your thumb over his ribcage where you hand was draped over him. The episode you were currently watching suddenly seemed so boring compared to the way Bucky’s skin felt against yours as he breathed in and out. His thumb continued his movements on your hip, going slightly under where the hem of his hoodie sat.
“Bunny,” He whispered, making you look up to him, brushing your nose against his.
Before you can answer, his lips are gently brushing against your own. Your heart felt like it was in your ears. Though you are very surprised, you comply immediately. Your movements with your thumb halt as you grip his side to bring him closer to you. His hand travels up your waist, bringing you as close to him as possible. His lips moved against yours in a way that said something that he could not transpire into words.
He wanted to before when he called you baby. But this was better.
Your hand traveled to the back of his neck as the kiss became more passionate. You kissed until you were sure one of you was going to pass out soon. Bucky was the one to pull away first, each of you panting.
“What the hell was that?” You whispered.
“Something that I’ve been meaning to say,” He whispered back against your lips.
“Anything else you need to say?” You asked, perking up your eyebrow.
“Tons,” He said, with a smirk on his face that you just wanted to kiss off. Bucky leaned in and brought his lips to yours once again, the show in the background long forgotten.
