Its a nice sized community, its a smaller city. Its manageable. You can keep your network open almost from one side to the other. Its a friendly place in that regard. The cost of living is pretty low. Its a good proximity to Chicago and the Twin Cities which are always fun to visit. A lot of good design is happening in Milwaukee.

I'd really like to see design grow in Milwaukee. I'd like to see all the great talent that comes through the design programs here… to keep that talent here and really grow a creative industry that rivals bigger cities.

I hope to see and try to encourage a lot of entrepreneurial ventures by young designers.

It [Milwaukee] remains a very friendly and connected place despite anything. Its not trying to be anything else.

Now is the time where the groups can become more connected. Collaboration is where a lot of the magic is going to happen.

Everybody has their own niche and they have a lot to share, but I think eventually they are going to be able to make the time and space to happen more so.

As graphic designers we tear things apart and put them back together in a highly improved state where we're using the fundamental skills we learned in our schooling and in experience to build better communication.

I'd like to see a lot of the barriers for diversity broken down, whether you're talking about the creative industry specifically or business or work opportunity in general.

Expedition Wisconsin is a trip-planning website focused on outdoor and nature-based travel in Wisconsin. It is focused on families, making planning trips easy and fun with destinations, events, games, and campfire-friendly recipes.

I hope to help families create exciting and eco-friendly outdoor vacations that will create long-lasting bonds and memories, as well as awareness and appreciation for the outdoors.

The cost of taking a family on a trip to a water park and staying in a hotel can be extremely expensive. Often times, experiencing nature and can be overlooked as a fun option. Families can save over $540 by choosing nature over manmade vacations.

Noah's Ark attracts over 3 times as many visitors in the summer than the average WI state park in an entire year.

Overall, I felt like the showcase was a good experience. People responded really positively to my project and were hoping they were already able to use it.

I did notice a problem, however. Most of the people coming to talk to me about my project were consumers. The majority of them were very excited about the project, and some took business cards. Since this project is not yet real, though, I most likely will have lost their interest once they realize (if they didn't at the show) that Expedition Wisconsin is not live. In class, our main focus when briefly talking about the show was on the investors, but I'm pretty positive that I got (at most) one investor at my table.

I was approached by someone doing a project about traveling in Wisconsin.

I didn't get much verbal feedback about things to improve. I did notice things while observing people as I talked, or while showing people how the site works.

When I mentioned the "Recipes" section, people often smiled or mentioned that it was a great idea. Same with games, but not as much. I think these pages are what makes Expedition Wisconsin unique, and it showed in the reactions of my audience. Because of this, I would like to work more on those sections to make them more awesome (right now they are the more lackluster sections of the site).

I would like to include even more information about the destinations on their individual pages. Someone mentioned trying to navigate and figure out the maps when going to a state park. I'll have to look deeper into how that information is presented on the DNR website.

Speaking of the DNR website: people hate it. I will definitely have to look at it more in depth to see what they are doing wrong, since I love to fix things.

Having something to lure people in can be extremely helpful as an icebreaker. People like to observe from a distance before deciding to come talk to you, so offering them a treat can help bridge that gap.

Gotta have something other than a laptop at my table!

Short Description Expedition Wisconsin is a travel planning website that is focused on nature-based travel in Wisconsin. We help families easily plan exciting and eco-friendly vacations and create long-lasting memories through outdoor travel. Project Description Expedition Wisconsin is a website focused on bringing families together to create long-lasting memories through nature-based travel in Wisconsin. The website is an aggregate of all the outdoor fun that Wisconsin has to offer, from state parks to nature craft workshops. Expedition Wisconsin brings together destinations, events, recipes, and game ideas. A user can simply browse and search these categories, or get more in-depth by creating an account. A user with an account can save their favorite items to create expeditions (travel plans) that can be printed, emailed, or posted to Facebook. These expeditions include a map of all the destinations and events and checklists to keep everything in order.

Expedition Wisconsin makes it easy to find information about the outdoor destinations in Wisconsin, including hours, fees, and campsite reservation links. Users can even filter their results based on age range to make sure they are planning a trip that works for the whole family. Bio Brea Heth was born and raised in Whitewater, WI. She began studying graphic design at Gateway Technical College, graduating with an associate’s degree in 2009.

She decided to further her education at UW-Milwaukee while gaining internship and freelance experience along the way, working with companies such as Johnson Bank, Marcus Theatres, and Future Business Leaders of America.

I observed my sister (Kyla, from my design team) and boyfriend (Devan) navigating the website. While doing so, I realized that the PDF navigator for the website is not a good way to do it (if you click anywhere that doesn't have a link while in fullscreen, it will automatically go to the next page). Because of this, I did not have my mom try the site, but I did show her how it works. Everyone really liked the moving dotted line in the navigation and the overall idea of the website.

I noticed that Devan wanted to click on the corresponding photo to open a destination/event. I will make these photos clickable in addition to the "More Information" link.

My brother-in-law overheard me explaining the website and came to take a look. He got really excited because he thought the website was fully functioning and wanted my sister to click on the link for Devil's Lake. He explained that the DNR website is really confusing. If I develop this website further, I will do a mini interview with him to ask what he doesn't like about their website.

I have not yet received survey results from my professional, Shelly.

Video Update

I tried to get video of my niece and nephew, but they recently went to Mt. Olympus so they weren't able to give me good content to use. I asked them about camping, and they got excited because they love it, but I had to probe and ask questions, so I didn't get anything really great. I was able to collect video from enough people, and if I used more, the video would probably get too long.

1) Were you able to understand the purpose of the website after quickly browsing? What do you believe the website is about? Yes, this page is about outdoor activities in Wisconsin. The purpose is to bring Wisconsin activities together so you explore what's available and plan trips then you can save past trips.

2) What emotions did you feel while testing the website? Excitement.

3) Would you use this website to find activities and/or plan trips? Yes, the site was easy to navigate. I wish it was real!

4) Did you notice and understand the search filtering options? If they were on a functioning website, would you find these filter categories useful (ex. Type, Age Range, WI Region)? The search options were easy to find and had good categories. They could use a larger age range. What a 20 year old wants is different than what a 40 year old wants. Also more specific search areas.

5) Did you feel like anything was missing while browsing the site that could make your experience better? Please describe. No

6) Were there any features of this website that stood out to you as being unique or particularly useful? Please explain. I felt like it was very user friendly and I loved the layout. The graphics were great!

7) Do you have children? If so, what age(s)? Yes, 10, 8, and 3.

I found a website called JewelBeat that has all downloads for 99¢. They are all pretty nice quality!

Light Hearted Moment "Starts gentle. Transitions to a choppy accented feel. Backs down to a choppy quite and later climaxes. Features piano highs and guitars."

Willing To Try This one also starts a little more gentle and adds on more instruments for a bit of intensity.

Highly Motivated I like the guitars in this. I would have to have some sort of intro, though.
